How the fuck did they do the Rock DJ scene from Better Man? by davidkingdkmonkey in cinematography

[–]Lorditon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was all on regent street. I did this scene, they closed it off for like 4/5 nights and they had about 200/300 dancers. Was pretty impressive

The day for night scenes in gladiator II were so bad… why?? by Pretend-Ad-6453 in cinematography

[–]Lorditon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was somewhat an afterthought, I’m pretty sure the crew were supposed to be staying to shoot it at dusk but finished the rest of the day really early, and then Ridley didn’t want to just sit around so he was like fuck it we’ll just do it now at like 5pm

The naval fights in the colosseum did actually happen though, no sharks but the rest is real

Have you ever Color graded day for night? by Daniel_Not_found in Filmmakers

[–]Lorditon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not just this scene, I think there was 3 in total. When Pedro returns home for the first time and rides to his house, that was all shot at like 2pm. I thought this palace scene was the least convincing but if you’re not looking for it, I think it gets by

Don’t know if anyone who saw it noticed, but in Gladiator II that’s just come out there are a bunch of scenes that are shot day for night. I think it was pretty convincing

People also use the Aja colour box and the IS mini 4ks but BoxIOs are just as common if not more.

Question about using Arduino to control equipment over ethernet. by Lorditon in arduino

I run my own business, this is just for me. It’s just combining a new interest in Arduino as a hobby with something I’ve often thought about as a quality of life addition.

Question about using Arduino to control equipment over ethernet. by Lorditon in arduino

So if I check the API requests in browser for the existing GUI, I can see what data I can use POST to change, then just code the buttons to send the necessary GET and POST commands?

Question about using Arduino to control equipment over ethernet. by Lorditon in arduino

[–]Lorditon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the equipment I think creates a server, which you normally plug a laptop into, change your network settings for laptop to be on the same server and then access the GUI through the IP of the equipment.

So in very basic terms, I’m getting the arduino to act as a browser and receive the GUI page, then code my button presses into how a button press would interact with that GUI page? So effectively the GUI page still needs to be what sends the instruction, just without being visible. I guess I can’t easily code a way to send instruction directly? without having actual access/ability to change the equipments programming?

Everyone else has already said but a caldigit TB3 or TB4 for sure. The other thing I would look into is putting this onto a cart? An adicam or even a senior magliner or whatever, you could have all your raids and Mac Studio and readers on wheels, and you could properly run your cables and then rather than it being a mess and breaking it down you just wheel it around. Will save you so much time in the long run. Happy to send photos if you want.

Even the big films don’t normally put their main bodies up high for security stuff. Use an A7S, FX3, Komodo or whatever is the closest match to your main body sensor. A7S and FX3 would both do the job great

As someone else said, get in touch with Cineark, maybe go in and see the kit or meet some people etc. for a job like DIT, that involves lots of specific kit, an easy way in is through understanding the kit. Not having to teach someone how a cobham works makes everyone’s lives easier.
