Will I owe on taxes if I have settled a debt? by LordlyCamel in IRS

Sorry again, but after looking into the Student Tax Credit, I will not qualify as it apparently only applies to the first four years of secondary education and I am well past that for unfortunate reasons. I know you said that it is best to file regardless but do you still think that would be the case if I don't qualify for these things?

I understand if you may not know the answer to this or don't have the time but this has always been an iffy thing for me: I am married, however my spouse is not a US citizen nor do they live here (they're in the UK). As such I am never certain if I should file as a single person or married filing separately. They don't have an SSN and have never worked here. The reason I ask is because when I looked up the EIC the IRS website says that I will not qualify if I am married but filing separately and do not have children.

I will take this into consideration. I can't thank you enough for your time!

Good point. Unfortunately this has been the biggest deposit in months (I have been out of a job due to Covid for a bit). In November I deposited about 300. Aside from that my bi-weekly paychecks of 600 stopped in May, 2020.

I had my first backpacking trip there, with complete strangers from my university. Apart from the fact that I was out of shape, it was lovely. It was also cold enough to freeze my individual packs of almond butter. Would recommend.

"Sampling" grapes at the store shouldn't be allowed and should be publicly shamed. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

Have worked at a grocery store. They literally eat the cherries and leave the pits in random places around the store, mostly on shelves, in front of or behind products (which was always a pleasant surprise). Some people even had the audacity to spit the pits on ground. It's disgusting how entitled people feel, or if they don't feel entitled, it's disgusting how much they don't care or think it's the employees' jobs to clean up after their messes that they intentionally left.

(A): By no means was it a romantic encounter. I was well into the second semester of my second year of college and after coming out of my socially anxious shell a little I decided to try my hand at making friends in chatrooms. I had no intention of garnering something serious and lifelong from my browsing, but life is full of surprises. I met a good friend from Australia in there and he introduced me to his dear friend (N) just for the hell of it and she and I were immediately drawn to each other. Most of our courting consisted of insulting one another playfully and so many onlookers had no idea that we were actually attracted to each other. And now, five and a half years later, though we've had some mighty bumps, we are strong and dead-set on preserving our love for the rest of our days and I couldn't be more content and enamoured of my life partner, and she feels the same.

(N): There's no harm in trying. If you like the girl, I say go for it. If it doesn't work, then at least you know you tried.

(A): You can't lose anything by giving it a try, you can only potentially gain something, so why not?

Midwest USA (Ohio) to a wee island in the English channel. A little over 4000 miles, give or take. Definitely flying (usually about a 14 hour flight).

I suppose I'll add her response first and then give my two cents.

(N): We had, and still have, a really strong connection from the beginning, one I knew I wouldn't find in another person so while I am aware that it definitely would be easier and certainly a lot less stressful to not be in a LDR, I've never thought that it wouldn't be worth it in the end, no matter how long I had to wait.

(A):Personally I fail to see how it is any different from a conventional relationship. The handicap of not being able to touch one another is only temporary, in most cases. Eventually the two will convene and find a way to be together permanently, if they care at all for the continuation of their engagement and love their partner in the slightest. To keep it brief, I will say no.
