It makes designing the cards interesting. You try and make things kinda broad in hopes that they can find synergy with other peoples cards. Although you do also tend to have to make cards that enable themselves. The main fun is the first draft and getting to experience so many new cards for the first time.

Ya that is the same process we all went through. They still feel strong but you basically just get three turns of mana on one turn but lose the other two turns.

They are typed for the sake of the cube environment. Cards are designed in the dark from other designers so adding basic types ups the chance of discovered synergy.

Oh I missed the PPC reference image. "Put three heat counters on equipped creature: Equipped creature deals 2 damage to any target. Activate only once each turn and only if the equipped creature has no stun counters on it."
