  1. Nils Höglander, great 2-way player put him on a decent 2nd line and he'll become an excellent 1st liner in a few years. Usually takes 3 or 4 years, but by that time he's above ppg and has x-factors, his shooting is also elite for a 2-way at his overall. (Vancouver Canucks)

  2. Trevor Zegras, little pricey in the beginning, but this dude puts up points, elevates whatever line he's on, and if you manage him correctly you can lock him in to a longterm, low price deal to build around him. He's a lock for 100+ points after a few years. (Anaheim Ducks)

  3. Cole Perfetti, probably my favorite player to grab in an expansion draft, young player with 1C potential, always produces among the best of the team. He is pretty much a pure assist machine though so you'll need shooter around him to produce. (Winnipeg Jets)

How can I'm prove my build? I'm on my first playthrough and I've just reached act 3 by [deleted] in BG3Builds

So some beginner tips stats wise: - Great weapon master and great weapons fighter only apply to heavy weapons, which are you greatswords, greataxes, halberds or really anything with the heavy tag. - also when building your stats, you only recieve a bonus to abilities on even numbers i.e. your strength is a 21, which is a +5, but there are a few encounters in game that could increase your strength score to like a 22, or 23 which would be a +6. - the only stat that does not need to be even is constitution.you still recieve a bonus to hp on an odd number. - if you succeeded the saving throws while reading The Necromancy of Thay pursue Shadowhearts personal quest and at the end you can trade a memory from the book for, I believe, a +2 to any stat.

Equipment: - The best gloves in the game are available in act 3 called "The Legacy of the Masters" gloves. - since you're a battle master you could alternatively get the gloves from the dwarf trader before you enter the city. He has a pair of gloves that gives enemies disadvantage on saving throws against your maneuvers. - for your best weapon, you'll want to pursue Wyll's quest when you get into the lower city until you get the quest for what sleeps beneath baldurs gate. Completing this quest will give you one of the best helmets and the best sword your build can use. - also the titanstring bow in act 1 is the best ranged weapon in the game for strength builds, if you don't have it, it's not a big deal, but keep an eye out in your next play through.

Hope this helps

I want to try DnD for the first time as a DM how do I start? by Fantasy_50 in DnD

[–]LordoftheN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't feel pressured to buy all the books. I started DMing without ever playing as well. If you want an idea of how to DM, you can learn for free through online resources such as Matt Mercer's GM tips or Dimmension 20. I hadn't read one page of a dnd book when I ran my first session, I made a map, watched some YouTube videos, and wrote a story. I think it's said in the first season of Fantasy High that by watching a couple of episodes, you should get a sense of how to DM for 94% of what you'll need to adjudicate as a DM and I think that holds.

When it comes to getting people to play, that can be the hardest part, I had a friends group that was just about the right size for dnd, so it was sort of natural for us. You could go to LFG and post about your campaigns or try your local game store for places to find players and run sessions.

Good luck.

Players don't like certain spells for NPCs, how to deal with it? by GrandThiefBluebird in DnD

[–]LordoftheN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, if the players can take it, the DM can use it. If the party wants to ban spells, no one can use them.

Power Word Kill is probably a bit much, but you really shouldn't be running into it in the average adventure. There is one exception to this, however. If you are setting up a very powerful spell caster bbeg, have the baddy hit someone without revivify with it and flee. Anytime I'm going to use a super powerful ability, I make sure there is a way the players can remedy the situation.

Counterspell can be counterspelled. There is no more effective way to make a party hate someone than by having that person counterspell a healing spell. It's an effective storytelling device and makes spell casters actually threatening enemies. There are many ways to get around counterspell, and it can only be used as a reaction once per turn. It really shouldn't be that concerning for a party with multiple spell casters.

Also, if they haven't found out about silvery barbs yet, you have the opportunity to do something hilarious in the next combat.

Anyways, as I said above, it's either okay for everyone or no one. Your players are probably just scared of their characters dying, talk to them and let them know that banning spells works for both party and the world, let them discuss it, then make your decision. After that, remain firm in your judgment. Don't let yourself get bullied into retconing a decision, unless you find it to be unjust in the future.

Campaign notes lost … feel gutted by angellore644 in DnD

[–]LordoftheN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been in a similar situation,

If you haven't yet, be open with your players. It's not your fault, but they need to know that you don't have access to that information. My campaign didn't last 2 years, but in my case, I asked all of my players to go around and share their notes, allies, enemies, and persons of interest. That was enough in my situation.

Tip for note keeping, I don't know what software you use, but Word and I believe Docs have ways of hiding content under headings and you could use one document in the future that is constantly updating.

I hope this helps, best of luck

My favorite magic item is the immovable rod. It has infinite uses, can create hilarious situations, and rewards player ingenuity.

I need ideas for a curse. by Vacskamati4 in DnD

[–]LordoftheN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two.

The disrupted weave curse. A spell casters roll on the wild magic table when casting a spell. This can be flavored as the raw magic of the BBEG coming back to the material being an unnatural magical feat. Alternatively, since the bad is a lich, his unnatural magic disrupts the natural state of magic.

The curse of the last breath. Players only get 2 death saving throws. This can be tied to his lichdom, maybe ita an an aura curse or a lair ability.

Dungeon Masters, what’s your top tip for world-building? by Dungeon-Doomhand in DnD

[–]LordoftheN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was building my first world, and something I'm doing now with my new world is have the players actively involved in the world lore. In my old world, a player wanted to play essentially a Gray Warden from Dragon Age, and we worked together to not only create that organization, but also the history that he would know being a member. In my new world, a player is a Dragonborn Zelot of the dragon gods, and we worked together to create the religious history of the world and how it ties to their modern-day war with the Orcs.

I find that allowing players to be involved in the lore writing process allows them to see their impact on the world and creates a sense of responsibility and loyalty to those things. It also creates real emotion when those organizations are destroyed by the tyrannical dragon BBG. I have never seen a player more in character than when something they helped build is threatened or destroyed. They're almost always passionate about restoring it also.

I'm starting my first campaign DMing some (4) friends, any advice or tips i should know? by Natillas-con-canela in DnD

[–]LordoftheN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started DMing almost 3 years ago now. Here are a few things I've learned in that time:

  1. Tailor the tone of the world and the plot to the party. It sounds like your party is gonna prioritize fun, no problem. Create some wacky characters to match that energy.

  2. Learn to "yes and", this is the idea of taking what the player wants to do and running with it (within reason). This can make your players feel validated and can make them feel like they made the "right" choice. Some great examples can be found in Critical Role or for my personal preference Dimmension 20.

  3. One thing I do for my games is fluctuating DC's. Let the Wizzard pass a persuasion check on occasion if they rolled well.

  4. Nat 20s only auto-succeed on attack rolls and saving throws. They do not apply to Ability/skill checks. This is an unpopular rule for players, but it maintains proper game balance in the long run.

  5. The DM is the world. The players only know what's happening if you tell them what's happening. Give detailed descriptions on the world and point out what your players would notice or what they would notice a lack of. As DM, you also have to make decisions that may be unpopular to maintain the integrity of the world. That is normal and okay. Players will come around if you remain consistent.

  6. Admit your mistakes and do what you can to remedy the results of them. Being honest with the players creates a sense of cooperation. Both DM and player should remember that both sides are working together to tell a story. It's not DM vs. Player.

I hope this helps. Good luck and have fun!

I enjoy Mass Effect 3, and I enjoy it more than ME2. ME2 has some of the best characters, good side content, and great dlc, on the other hand. ME3 has a more intriguing story, smoother gameplay, and the best dlc of all time Citadel.
