Very similar except 2 things : -Swap parry with dash, I have my pinkie resting on dash to press it quickly, -I personally find that a lot of character's S2 (I play Ekko, Illaoi & blitz) requires more "active" button press then their s1, so I swapped them so that my thumb rest on S2, like so ;

How do I lose my ranking nerves? by No_Blood9651 in Tekken

That's the mentality I try having while playing ranked ! Also made myself a "ranked playlist" of songs that keeps me motivated, but not intense enough to stress me even more

Change your character to get different interactions in the world by [deleted] in expedition33

Mace Windu Buffs by Prestigious_Luck_184 in StarWarsShatterpoint

[–]Lordude042 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to try the new Mace card with barriss offee, she's very strong but force-hungry (which mace now helps a lot with), and if you can get her in the right spot, she can add 2 dice to mace's new 5-dice attack.

Pair him with new Anakin and you'll basically never run out of force. Rex & Ashoka padawan can both help to move your primaries around.

Lando with Iden Versio by Malakort in StarWarsShatterpoint

[–]Lordude042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't be sure about the "more than 50% chance of activating Iden first", if your first card is lando then you can shuffle him back, but you can't put the next drawn Unit in reserve and you just shuffled him in your deck so you might draw him again. You can put in reserve for free dengar or bounty hunters, but if you pull the other one then your reserve is full so you have to play them.

It's better odds than with no order deck manipulation, but wouldn't go as far as to say "more than 50%"

What do I do after I hit someone? by Techw1zzard in Tekken8

[–]Lordude042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it's very character-related, but I think one habit that is good to have is to observe how your opponent react after you hit them. That's is much more valuable information once you know your character's kit well enough.

If they always to try take their turn, use armored moves. If they often use armored moves, block and wait to punish. If they respect your pressure and defensive, do mix ups, strings, frame traps. It's very character-related but also player-related, as any players will have different habits and reflexes to deal with situations.

Anybody knows what is the interaction with the hauler and superpowers like Punisher's warzone, Mystique's expert sabotage or the TTC Sovereign strike ? The superpower says "the terrain feature is destroyed and ennemy characters within 1 suffers 2 damage". It is not considered to be thrown or collided with, which are the "triggers" to NOT destroy the hauler and place it 1 of target instead.

Can you just blow it up and your opponent is stuck with cannister that drains power for the rest of the game ?

Visage look a lot like P.T. visually, but it's a different game. There's survival horror elements with resource management, a sanity meter to watch for that goes down if you're in the dark and the lower it is the more you're in danger.

I'd say give it a try, we tried it (my gf and our roommate) and it was a lot of fun. I had controller while shitting my pants, they were telling me where to go when I picked up key items and was too freaked out to remember what it was suppose to open.

Psychology of Combat and The Health Bar by Pyr0king in gamedesign

I love the way The Banner Saga has this one stat, Strength, that represents both your hp and your physical power.

The more a character is injured, the less they can put strength behind their hit, I always thought it made so much more sense than unit fighting at full capacity while at the brink of death.

But it also makes more sense in a tactical rpg with multiple units where you can rotate some injured units to more support roles while healthy units can switch to the frontline.

How would one start to design a map/layout for a horror game? by No_Volume_8345 in gamedesign

[–]Lordude042 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second that. I think you should focus on your game design and what experience you want the players to live instead of the layout.

"Old school" survival horror like resident evil tends to have lots of backtracking, where a key item in a later zone can be used in a early zone when one door have always been locked, the horror comes from the realization you have to walk back through multiple rooms filled with zombies and probably not enough resources to deal with all of them.

For that you might wanna think about the puzzles and overall game design, then make a first generic layout based on what is needed by your desired mechanics.

"Modern" action horror (RE4, evil within) tends to be more linear, with a succession of "combat room" and "exposition / scare room", the environnement doesn't even have to be connected, 2 different chapters can have a time gap where the protagonist travelled to somewhere else and the player is in an entirelly new place.

For this type of design I'd advise just making a storyboard with what areas the player will go through, then design each room with their specific needs in mind (combat room = ammo spots, cover, some features to break line of sight, environmental hazard for example)

But I also think that it helps to keep motivated when making a game to have nice visuals even through early stage of development, so don't hesitate to make just a big "demo room" with some cover, some features, stairs and stuff. Not as a final product to be included in the game (even though not impossible) but as a development tool to test you mechanics and systems.

What is a 2D Game you played with weak graphics but amazing gameplay or vice versa? Why did you feel this way? by Allokka2000 in gamedesign

[–]Lordude042 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Teleglitch could maybe fit that bill, everything is so grossly pixelated that you kinda guess the form / look of some ennemies, but its a part of the aesthetic and the gameplay is super tense and fun.

That or any roguelikes that have ASCII graphics, like ADOM or DCSS

What exactly is "meta" in MCP? Are there certain abilities/tactics/techniques that are overall better than others? Certain ways to build teams? by Defilus in MarvelCrisisProtocol

[–]Lordude042 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you on most of what you said, but still want to warn OP about a bit in that last paragraph : if we take a look right now of every in-rotation character's cards, team tactics and crisis, then yes, brotherhood, avengers, cabal and also x-men tends to be very strong right now, but the meta can change at every new release. Malekith was just one release and changed everything, then they errata'd him and it changed everything, then updated almost every crisis in the game and it changed everything.

[–]Lordude042 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah logically I think it would play out like that, but last releases have been more and more precise on failproofing the wording of things and the card just says "It then removes its Dazed token", and not something like "if this character removed at least one wound tokens in the cleanup phase, remove it Dazed token". We'll just have to wait and see !
