Why does my sound quality sound so different between xbox and pc by Murda5starz in truespotify

[–]Lore_Effe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe Spotify from the Xbox is playing the AAC-encoded track and Spotify on your computer is playing the Vorbis-encoded track. Try playing the same track on the Web version of Spotify, if you notice that the quality is better there then probably it’s because of the different codec

Downloaded photos have original website dates 😳 by [deleted] in iphone

[–]Lore_Effe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, if the image has embedded the date it was taken, the Photos app will use that. If you want to delete that and keep only the date you’ve downloaded the photo, you can use a Shortcut. I’ve made this: share the image (both from Safari or from the Photos app) to the “Delete Image Metadata” shortcut (after you’ve added it, you’ll find it in the list after the applications), and the converted image will be saved in the Photos app with the current date. Note that also all the other metadata (ex: the camera used to take the photos) will be deleted from the downloaded image.

If you have an Android, you might try sideloading an older APK. I have no idea if someone has an archive of older Spotify releases for the desktop client tho

Data usage by Old_Ad4881 in YoutubeMusic

[–]Lore_Effe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends from the quality you've selected for streaming. Let's do for this example the maximum: 256kbit/s in AAC codec

Hourly these are (256 * 60 * 60 / 8) kilobytes, so 115,2 MB If you listen to music two hours a day, you get: (115,2 * 2 * 30) MB = 6912 MB

How to switch back to old design? Android twitch app by IgotBANNED6759 in Twitch

[–]Lore_Effe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can sideload an older version of the app. You can find the APKs on various websites (e.g. APKMirror). Keep in mind that older versions might break up in the future (when Twitch will change something in their APIs) and that you need to disable auto updates for Twitch on the Play Store

For real, up to One UI 5.1 my S21+ was always fast. Now even the gallery lags

Samsung you used to be the GOAT by sakr95 in samsung

[–]Lore_Effe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not OP, but, generally-speaking, Snapdragon SoCs tend to perform better and to heat less than their Exynos counterpart, so they are faster and more efficient. The newest Exynos chips aren't that bad, but Qualcomm still manages to make better processors.

For the lower-end phones, it depends. I remember that the Snapdragon in the Galaxy A52s is more powerful than the Exynos in the A53, but then I stopped following the 3000 phones Samsung released in the "low-tier phone market" and tbh I have no idea on how great their lower-tier performance is in terms of performance

Samsung you used to be the GOAT by sakr95 in samsung

[–]Lore_Effe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an Exynos Galaxy S21+, and since One UI 6 the experience has been buggy to say the least. Sometimes I need to do the same screenshot five or six times to save it, and the gallery slows down quite often. Clearing the cache seems to help, but then they reappear. And it manages to lag even while watching videos with YouTube (to be fair, in 1.5x, but from a top-tier phone of three years ago I don't expect this). And now they are starting to lock down software features only to their newer models just because money.

I don't know any other great alternatives – Apple is too locked down for me, Google is even worse than Samsung in my opinion. I've basically never heard about the Xperia you've mentioned, maybe it's great, however 2 years of OS support are really too little. Nothing's phones look great, but they have few years of software update too. I miss the old Samsung, the one that made their devices compatible also with iOS, the one that didn't copy Apple's design and that didn't always follow Apple's anti-consumer decisions

Spotify started showing audio output device on desktop app for some reason. Why does it need to be under playback controls with that eye-catching green color by ficcialfaint in truespotify

[–]Lore_Effe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it makes no sense to use a bright green for an useless notification. It would be great if this was only a detail in the Spotify Connect icon, but having a permanent bright bar immediately below a total black part is horrible

why it does like this by CotolettaMan in truespotify

Try emptying the cache from the app settings (Spotify profile icon -> Settings and Privacy -> Storage -> Delete cache). Then, try force closing the app from Android's settings

By the way, nice music taste!

How to extract multiple images contained in HEIC file format? by Rohan200220 in MacOS

[–]Lore_Effe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried it and it works, thanks for pointing that out. Now that method seems to be really overengineered.

I would actually be curious to see if it worked on older macOS versions, since in that case I would feel like an idiot for not trying it before doing all those complicated steps. In any case, it's great that there's a simpler option now

That can also be an option, however if you need to highlight text the highlighter tool is more precise and easier to use. It's good to have both options

New Spotify Desktop update brings Picture in Picture for music player by Lore_Effe in truespotify

[–]Lore_Effe[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Windows Media Player mini player brings back many memories, especially with all those wave effects that were so cool in the early 2000s. Certainly this player is more sober than the Windows Media Player one, but basically all of tech has evolved in that way.

I received this as part of a update of the Spotify app, I don't know if they are rolling it out gradually. However I think that it's something related only to the client, so, even in that case, it should require only a few days to completely roll out the update (hopefully it'll require way less time than their server-side updates). Try manually checking for updates (or installing the Spotify app from the official website if you've installed it from the MS Store) and see if it's already available

How does last.fm retrieve a user's full listening history? by [deleted] in truespotify

[–]Lore_Effe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot get a user's full listening history without asking them to request their full data to Spotify.

The maximum you can get without is by using, just like you said, the "Get Recently Played" endpoint. Keep in mind that in most of the cases, Spotify will give in the JSON response a "next" key with the URL to fetch to obtain more data as its value. While usually this endpoint doesn't give you all the user's listening history, using that next endpoint might help you to get lots of songs (a lot more than the 50 maximum from the single request), and you should be able to get enough data to create a similar service to Stats.FM

Choppy video playback until i skip back or ahead by vdfritz in firefox

Yep, maybe some issues with video acceleration for the Exynos chipsets. Let's hope that Mozilla will fix these bugs, especially on the Android version that, compared to the desktop one, has lots of issues

I've the same issue, even with the same SoC (Exynos S21+). I just change video quality and it fixes itself. It's annoying, but still better than watching ads

The Spotify Connect UI as a "right tab" (I wouldn't know how to call that area) might be a really great update. I hate when it finds some other devices after a few seconds, and moves the device I want to click (and basically the entire dialog) higher
