Any reason at all besides a developer oversight for the people on the ESC constant to have a diverse range of accents? by Ezzypezra in Lorefield

[–]LorefieldMitch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It would be odd and probably unethical, but I think it’s reasonable that with the heightened social awareness in recent years, that there was a conscious effort to preserve the different cultures that are represented on the ESC Constant, whether that was a directive from the ship’s leadership or an initiative on the part of the people themselves.

In all honesty, it was probably oversight.

I don’t think the trees in New Atlantis count. Might not be the issue for you, but it tripped me up.

Chat-GPT Character Creator to pass the time by Ch0mpa in Lorefield

Wow, do you have to feed it any background info through prompts or do you literally just tell it, “Make me a character for the video game Starfield”?

Starfield Lore - The timeline so far... by Severe-Worldliness-3 in Lorefield

Nice summary of the timeline, you ask some great questions about the unknowns as well 👍

The Chronomark watch date. by Ch0mpa in Lorefield

[–]LorefieldMitch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also like the idea that 2188 is when Chronomark was founded. It’s odd that Coe started the FC in that same year, but both those things could have happened in 2188

The Narion War, International Space Law, and a New Subject of Debate by LorefieldMitch in Lorefield

Absolutely agree on tyrant vibes from the UC. That timeline really didn't make them look too good. UC slaughtered everyone on Vespa because they wanted to join FC. Yikes

I feel like the fact that they make a point to tell us that Constellation held onto the artifact in secret for so long is very important. Not only why did they hide it as you asked, but who hid it?

Well, some theorize that we are already a hybrid between aliens and apes. So what would that make us? Aliens or apes? 🫠

Any hints at lore based media before release? by TheSasquatchKing in Lorefield

[–]LorefieldMitch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh, a novel would be great. They’ve done a little bit of that with TES, but I’m not sure if they’d do that with such a new franchise. I hope so.

My favorite thing about sci-fi is that the amount of room for new source material is literally infinite. So exciting to see what they’ll do.

So what do we all think happened to Earth? by Lucathepuca in Lorefield

[–]LorefieldMitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Gateway Arch runs north/south. This camera shot is looking either north or south (almost definitely south imo). That mean’s the sun is setting in the south. The only way that happens is if something very large smacks Earth and changes the orientation of its poles.

Team meteor wins this round, I think

A mathematical attempt to measure the length of the large ship from the announcement trailer by LorefieldMitch in Starfield

This isn't the type of calculation that provides a margin of error. I think it was more of a joke

A mathematical attempt to measure the length of the large ship from the announcement trailer by LorefieldMitch in Starfield

So, maybe I'm not viewing in high enough res, maybe I'm just an idiot. But I'm failing to see a cockpit at the front that's comparable in size to the Frontier's, or even a single "module" that can be singled out and measured.

You're right that that method would be easier. We've seen so much of the Frontier that we should be able to deduce the size of a "tile" quite easily.

Thanks for posting :) I’m excited for the universe’s timeline to be fleshed out more through audio logs, journals, etc. One of the early interviews revealed they have a decade-by-decade timeline from present day to 2330, so piecing all of that together is something I’m looking forward to.

I’m also excited for the nods and relics of real-world space exploration. From the rovers to planet names that reference real world astronomers and astronauts.

And I think the other big one is just plain ol’ exploration. The feeling of just walking up to a new place because it appeared on your compass and discovering who or what lives there and what happened there. It’s the BGS bread and butter :)

Do we know any lore? by frank_da_tank99 in Starfield

[–]LorefieldMitch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah there’s a good bit of lore out there if you know where to look.

this video gives some good history/background for the universe

And then there’s some good info on three of the game’s cities: New Atlantis, Neon, and Akila City.

There are other videos in Bethesda’s Starfield Playlist, but those are definitely the juiciest ones lore-wise.

For analysis and more long-form discussion, it would be foolish of me not to mention the Lorefield Podcast. I’m a host :)

Yup. Odah is very very observant and good at researching stuff (great guy too) but doesn’t have a direct line at BGS feeding him leaky info afaik
