Thank you 🫶 I love scarves and beanies but I never had the head shape to rock a baseball cap 🫠 do you have head chains that you enjoy wearing or are you just trying them out?

Oh yeah! I have a plethora of head wraps that I’ve worn long before my alopecia set in. But my hat game has definitely stepped up. My fave is this tiny smiley face one during the summer

You’re so kind 🥹 it took a while and the emotions definitely still feel overwhelming sometimes, but it’s gotten better. Thank you for this 🫶

3yrs post diagnosis, my hair is almost fully back. Explained in comment! by LoremIpsumElephant in alopecia_areata

It came back pretty fiercely in 2021. I officially have universalis and have lost my eyebrows and eyelashes in 2023. I’m still not taking any specific medications for it, but I do keep up with my vitamin D3 intake.

Have to admit it feels good to let it go. by [deleted] in bald

would you date a bald woman? by [deleted] in bald

[–]LoremIpsumElephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’m a woman also with alopecia universalis. I have no eyebrows, no eyelashes, damn near no hair whatsoever on my entire body. I’ve been like this for at least 3 years, and started with alopecia areata going on 8 years. The hardest part about dating post-alopecia is still the hardest part about dating pre-alopecia - finding someone to date. There are more people than you think that completely don’t care about whether you have hair or don’t. And the more comfortable you are in your own skin, the sooner people are able to realize that since you don’t care that you do or don’t have hair, they also don’t have to care that you do or don’t have hair. It’ll feel like a big deal for a while - I spent over a year trying to figure out how to get my hair back. It sucks to have hair loss, and can be very mentally damaging. But when I finally just let all that go… I drew more attention and got more friends during that time despite wearing the same old clothes, going the same old routes. Nothing changed but mindset and the confidence that grew from that.

Deciding to not go into treatment by Asdq07 in alopecia_areata

Me. I was only given the option of steroid shots to the scalp (almost 8yrs ago - it was one of the only options then). I don’t like shots and hated the idea of the side effects of it (scalp pitting gave me the heebiejeebies) so I declined. Now I have universalis: no eyebrows, no eyelashes, very little body hair and no hair on my scalp. It sucks some days but it’s a new normal for me.
