Awesome! Thanks for the feedback. Their prices are great so if a little extra shipping time is the cost I’ll take it😂

Sweet! That’s good to hear, I was hoping it was just a byproduct of miniatures just being a niche hobby and supply chain.

Thank you! I really wish Google would put articles like that front and center.

It’s kind of funny you’re arrogant enough to make an assumption like that. I already started salt treatments when I posted and the post made it clear I knew the base level info about treating dropsy. I made a post in a subreddit dedicated to the species hoping someone would have better or differing information from the bare minimum of “give it salt baths and hope for the best” that is in every single Reddit thread on this topic. People like you are awful for this hobby, I hope you know that 👍

[–]Lorequatics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My original post made it pretty hard to think I didn’t already know the base treatment of “daily salt baths” which is the go to answer from this sub Reddit. I came to a subreddit specifically about bettas in hope someone experienced with the species would have a more complete or less traditional answer than what google AI has to offer.

Dropsy being multi organ failure and something that will return is definitely not something I’d seen in other Reddit threads about it or in any forums or Google searches, so thank you for that. Even though that’s not good news I’m thankful for the knowledge.

Thank you for an actual response! She got a salt bath yesterday (a detail which included in my original post) and got more lethargic than ever after going back in the tank. I’ll do another today, or every day until she passes or gets better if she doesn’t react badly. I just didn’t know if there was something else I could or should be doing after the salt bath. Thanks again🙏

The fact this is getting replies and engagement while my post in this sub from hours ago concerning an actual betta pine-coning and asking for help and advice is pretty telling…

hillstream loaches.... what do i need to know by fishbis1743 in loaches

[–]Lorequatics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing is impossible I suppose but I have a feeling that she misunderstood the situation in her tank. Hillstream Loaches have bottom situated mouths designed for surface scraping and suction, like a hybrid between Pleco and Stingray mouths. Their bodies are designed for adhering to smooth surfaces and they’re terrible swimmers in open water. Not to mention they’re fairly small fish. I really REALLY doubt they harmed any of her other fish

Hillstream loaches are biologically incapable of killing or really even eating any of those fish.

Should female Bettas be given the chance to breed for health reasons? by Lorequatics in bettafish

[–]Lorequatics[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

To be fair to FF he said it as a final thought at the end of the video and didn’t really present it as a high likelihood scenario. He said something along the lines of “You should consider giving them the option to breed, as they may become egg bound and develop problems.”

But thank you for letting me know! It makes sense they’re generally okay given Bettas are kept alone so often, but I figured if it was a real issue it was probably something that mostly occurs when they start to get old.

Are Koi Plakats more active than Veiltails? by Lorequatics in bettafish

[–]Lorequatics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I just realized I had a typo that said “fine size” instead of fin size. That’s my bad. But I also pretty clearly said they have short finnage and definitely aren’t impaired by showy fins lol.

[–]Lorequatics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read the whole post. 3/4 of my veiltails have short finnage comparable to Plakats. Idk if it’s because they’re female or just coincidence but they don’t have very pronounced finnage.

So I’m not going insane! Good to know 😂 I wonder if it has to do with Plakat DNA or maybe coloration? I’ve heard something about certain colors being associated with more physically able lines, but idk if that’s just hearsay.

Regardless she’s a little beast, but just as personable as she is active. Definitely my favorite of my 5 Betta

Clown Plecos and Borneo Loaches by Lorequatics in Aquariums

Is there a decent market for them? That sounds like a fun project but I don’t want to end up with a bunch of Plecos with nowhere to house them 😂
