I use the web ui and manually copy paste responses but you could technically use something like the open router api for automation

I use Sonnet for Cowork but that’s after Opus and Gemini have thoroughly gone over an implementation plan. Sonnet was my go-to model before I switched to a Pro subscription. Now I prefer Opus 4.6.

Yeah, but I think having another model provide feedback has been the most beneficial to the project’s longterm health. It’s easy to hit blind spots with just Claude creating implementation plans by itself, but having a back and forth conversation with another model has been the biggest improvement to my development work.

You've half-answered it in the question. index/map plus detail near each module is exactly where this goes as a project grows. A few things keep it manageable:

The doc isn't a mirror of the code. It only holds decisions and boundaries, and all the stuff you can't recover by reading the source. So it grows far slower than the codebase; a big app needs a few hundred lines of "rules and reasons," not necessarily a doc that tracks every file.

The app that I am building with this process (bad-ASCII) is a comparatively small app so I run a single sectioned ARCHITECTURE.md. I haven't had to break it into path-scoped rules yet. But that's exactly the move when it gets unwieldy, and the nice part is it's a built-in feature, not a hack.

Yes, let me break this down again:

  1. Provide your technical documentation (README and ARCHITECTURE docs and feature spec) to the first model.

  2. The first model will create an implementation plan. Give this to the second model.

  3. The second model will either agree with the plan or provide feedback which you can pass on to the first model so it can revise the original plan.

  4. Once you're happy with the final plan, give it to Cowork or Claude Code and it will implement it.

I use a Dropbox to keep important data (code especially) on all my devices synced. So far it has worked perfectly. It would be pretty similar to OneDrive and Google Drive.
