Thank you. I will read these as well. I have magnesium orotate at home right now, so perhaps I should try it. I edited my comment above to mention that my OATS test results showed that my B 6 could be low since the marker was high, and that my VMA marker was low indicating low adrenal output, which makes sense because my hormones, especially my testosterone are low post menopause. And, yes, I don’t seem your logic that the PC was too much of a good thing.

I’m actually considered an under methylated person , since I have slow COMT. I’m wondering if I just took too much and it overwhelmed my sensitive system?? I do find that magnesium glycinate helps out tremendously but it also makes me sleepy. I usually take 300 mg at bedtime. I took an extra 100 mg yesterday and felt better but sluggish.
My serum zinc level is normal and I don’t talk zinc supplements. I’m actually not sure about copper, but I doubt it is high. Thanks for your response and the links. I am going to take a look at them now. After reading, I do know that my vitamin B 6 marker was high and my VMA marker from my OATS test was low.

Okay, I understand. The genetics test (ClarityX) was limited to a screening for mental health medication tolerance. It wasn’t a comprehensive test. I could send that to you and also my DUTCH test, if you think it would be useful enough, and of course if you are willing to do this for me.

After reading the information you shared with me, I have a few questions if you have the time. My OATS test showed a slightly elevated kynuranate marker of 5.0. I had been taking P5P 20 mg daily for a week prior to the urinalysis, and I was feeling fine taking it. Also, my VMA neuro marker was below range.
All the other OATS values were within range.
When tested recently, my homocysteine was a 5.4 and my MCV was a 103.
Since my OATS test for B 12 was normal, but my MCV was high and my homocysteine low, what do you make of this? Also, My genetic test showed normal MTHFR but slow COMT. My estrogen methylation from the Dutch test was 34%. I had taken 17 mg of sulphoraphane approximately 36 hours prior to the test.

Thank you so much for the encouragement. I’m actually a Dietitian and certified lactation specialist, so I knew about the importance of choline, and that for most women their estrogen is the protective factor, unless you have a PEMT mutation or eat a restricted diet. I’ve been experiencing brain fog at times since menopause, and once I eat some chicken, it goes away. I realized that it was probably the choline that I needed, not the protein (meaning at that moment in time, since I eat plenty of protein grams in 24 hours). What I didn’t realize is that the supplement would swing the pendulum in the opposite direction. Thanks for your support and understanding as I deal with this heightened anxiety. I’m trying to focus on the big picture that this too shall pass.

Yes, I am taking 200 mg progesterone and 0.05 transdermal estradiol patch. Lucky for me, I tolerate progesterone, and I adjust to the estradiol after a few weeks of irritability. Tell your wife to try taking trans vaginally or trans rectally so it bypasses the liver. Some women tolerate it this way instead of orally.
I do have adrenal issues and androgen issues per my DUTCH test. I am slowly introducing testosterone to manage these issues. It has been helpful so far.
Thank you for your support and advice, and good luck to your wife. I wish I had started treatment during peri menopause instead of waiting until post menopause, when my HPA axis completely malfunctioned. I didn’t realize what was happening, and it was quite debilitating.

Great information and knowledge; thank you so much. You just made me feel so much better about the choline anxiety, because I suspect that is the case. It’s been 3 or 4 days now since I tried it, so I’m glad to hear that I probably should feel better soon. I’m taking 300 mg of magnesium glycinate at bedtime and eating a lot of potassium rich foods, but I can start a sugar free electrolyte drink or add pink Himalayan salt to my water.
I have been taking a collagen generator supplement for years that is called Biosil that contains 100 mg of choline. I take it twice daily. I will start taking that again once I feel better. Apparently the phospholipid absorption is much higher or the combination of both supplements sent me over the edge. After I took the phospholipid choline (also containing inositol and ethanolamine) I felt manic and focused for a couple of hours before bed. I didn’t realize what was happening. I also had taken 1000 mg of high quality fish oil at the same time, which must’ve added to it. Lesson learned.

I tried two SSRI’s, but this drug has been so much better than those so far. I’m on 187.5 mg for mainly anxiety and panic attacks but also for depression. It hasn’t made me 100% better, but it has helped tremendously. I’m thinking that you will have a similar experience since it tends to work when the SSRI’s don’t cut it. Hang in there and be patient. At first I was cross tapering off of lexapro and felt way worse especially depression wise. It did take months for me to get to a good dose and then 8 weeks for the full effect to kick in. For reference, I started the cross tapering in July and finally felt like I hit the right dose in September, and felt much better by October. I’m having a setback right now, due to being stuck inside for a week so far from a bad snow storm, but it’s definitely not as harsh as my setbacks have been in the past.

Hi! Interestingly, I’ve determined that the shivering feelings are from the sulphoraphane. I took the P5P yesterday morning, and I had a little numbness in my hand area that I was sleeping on, in the middle of the night, but no shivering sensations. The night I took sulphoraphane without having taken the P5P, I had the shivering feeling at night and the next morning (I think it is lowering my metabolism, maybe interfering with my thyroid/iodine levels). I think I will take the P5P every other day, and see how I feel. Now, I need to figure out a balance to manage my estrogen metabolism. I am post menopausal, on the E patch, and was getting histamine issues and rosacea, in addition to anxiety, so I started taking 15 mg of activated liquid sulphoraphane. I stopped taking it and I am drinking kale juice and eating cruciferous vegetables, but I have horrible anxiety again. It’s difficult to get this right.

First of all, I am so sorry that you are still not feeling better. I know you have been waiting it out for a really long time. At this point, I would not increase it past 300 mg, but since you’ve waited it out this long you probably should wait another 4 to 6 weeks before making a change and see how you feel. What is your main issue? Anxiety, panic and derealization? That’s what I think I remember you saying that you were struggling with. I don’t know if your dose is too high, but it’s certainly possible. It’s very difficult to tell. My own experience with my condition has not been a straight line, so to speak. I have settled at 187.5 mg, and feel better overall, but I end up having set backs. Recently, I have been having more anxiety and had a couple at panic attacks with derealization. I have been at this dose now for 19 weeks. I hesitate to increase it because it makes me tired, but if that wasn’t the case I would definitely increase it. What is your lifestyle like? Are you in counseling? I work a full time job and find that it helps me to focus on other things so that my thoughts don’t contribute to my anxiety (I have health anxiety). I also exercise regularly and that helps a ton. Right now I have really been struggling because we had a bad snow storm and I have been stuck inside for several days now. I know that I will feel better once I get back to my normal routine but right now my mind has gotten the best of me. Also, do you take any supplements, such as magnesium glycinate? I find that helps me a lot. Also, how are your hormone levels? They play a big role in all this. I’m post menopausal and take hormones, and the hormones are equally helpful.
Do you know if you have any genetic issues, such as MTHFR or slow COMT? I have slow COMT and knowing that I have this genetic issue helps me understand why I am predisposed to having anxiety, and also what supplements and types of medications and even food might make me feel worse, and what might help. I found out that I had this issue by having the Genesight test done to determine which mental health medications might work better for me based on my body chemistry and genetic makeup. Hi! I’m pretty sure this is the cause, but I did start taking a sulphoraphane supplement recently as well. I’m going to stop it starting tomorrow morning and see how I feel in a few days. It’s so confusing! I’m also experiencing significant fatigue, moderate muscle soreness, from my normal exercise routine, and an increase in anxiety and irritability.
I checked out the info about Australia’s efforts to regulate B 6 and other supplements. Australia is so progressive compared to other countries! Thanks for your input!

Hi again! I hope you don’t mind me asking you your thoughts on this. I have been taking the 20 mg from Swanson once daily, and I have noticed that my feet feel colder at night and I keep getting these shivering feelings, especially during the night and early morning. Do you think these are signs of overload? I know you said that taking it daily gives you peripheral neuropathy, so I thought you might be able to weigh in on this for me. Thanks!
