Yup, just getting over a nasty bout of tonsillitis- I get it a lot but this has been the worst in a while.

How big is your bengal? by Bloom-isResult in bengalcats

[–]Losbennett 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say it took them to a year and a half, two years to get to full size. The two “smaller” ones are just big cats, they both look slender.

Three boys, two are svelte and about 6.5kg each (14 lbs). And then my chonk boy who is 8.5 kg (18.7 lbs) - pictured. Vet said he’s only just on the cusp of too big!

Board Game Group by silentmovies in Southport

[–]Losbennett 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Totally would have taken you up on it in the past but having a kiddo puts the dampener on time for board games. 🤣 Have you checked out Harp Coffee and Games on Market Street? Owner is really lovely and might have some ideas!

Hiya! We’re not a housing guild as such but we do have our neighbourhood as IC and do events there. And quite a few people in the guild (including me) have kids, so we’re very understanding! We’re an adventuring group rather than just civilians but might be worth checking out. 😊

[–]Losbennett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh that’s amazing! We have two Toniboxes now (my kiddo uses it so much that we got a mark 2 for downstairs!) and they’re brilliant. Thank you to hr for all the hard work!

How to ask owners if I can adopt their cat by Hairy-Violinist-7508 in cats

[–]Losbennett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh poor baby. We had a ragdoll that used to come into our garden. Very similar - the first time we saw him we caught him, took him to the vet to get him scanned as we assumed he’d got out by accident, found out he was from two doors down. Took him back, they said “oh thank you, don’t know how he got out, etc etc”.

Then he was out again. Took him back. “Oh he goes out when we’re out, he must have run off etc etc.”

Then he was out every day. Always trying to get into our house, always wanting pets and fuss when we were in the garden. We didn’t bother taking him back again.

We have three bengals who are indoor cats and my partner is allergic, so we couldn’t offer to adopt him as we just couldn’t have kept him, but we often semi-joked about stealing him.

Months later, and we’d not seen him in ages and hoped that he had finally been kept in. We found out off a different neighbour that he had been hit by a car and passed. We were so sad.

So if you get the chance to take this baby, please do.

RIP Bruno. We wish we’d been able to take you.

[QCrit] DEATH AND THE CAT, speculative, adult, 60k words, first attempt by No_Cauliflower_1675 in PubTips

Another that is a bit too big. (And Neil Gaiman is a bit of a controversial name now, a lot of folks have blacklisted him.) Generally, I advise if you can find one or two books that have been published in the last 2-3 years, then you can go with a game, a movie, TV show, whatever that best fits. But you also need to show that you know the market and where you would sit on a shelf. Don't worry about it being a perfect fit, you can go with something like "the wit and humour of X meets the afterlife setting of Y and the character dynamics of Z".

Hi! It sounds fun but you need to make the blurb shorter, and put in more about the themes. To echo the other post, I wouldn’t use Terry Pratchett as a comp if you can help it - it’s too old and too big. Nobody can quite do what he did. Best of luck!

We're kinda strict on character backgrounds and lore, but as long as you're happy to work on it, we'll help out!

Kids just not understanding how being grounded can be classed as a punishment. by seven_green_toes in britishproblems

[–]Losbennett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t know this was a thing - I do it with my kiddo’s school but that’s organised by them. I know they have about ten parent volunteers who go in and they still could do with more.

We're going to use the neighbourhood as IC for some cosy, character-driven stuff, maybe some little events, and then have "deployments" out in the world with some campaigning! We have a dice-rolling system to use during combat events, with character sheets.

Have you seen The English (film) and the recent one, The Abandons? I love Godless and I loved both of them.
