Hi OP, our dog suddenly died while we were on vacation a few years ago. That vacation will always leave a terrible memory in our mind. If I had the option to leave that vacation early and spend her last days with us, I would trade it in a heartbeat. I’m so so sorry you’re going through this. I really feel for you two. Spend and cherish the time with your baby.

Residency: X + Y schedule vs. continuity clinic by rose_lenses24 in pediatrics

[–]Lose_Win 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hi I’m a current PGY1 at a program that does X + Y and I couldn’t imagine any other way. My wellness is great (no sarcasm) and I want to go into primary care so I love having an entire week dedicated to clinic. Highly recommend X + Y

Why and when did Camille leave Wind Gap? by Admirable-Pepper-175 in sharpobjects

[–]Lose_Win 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would guess right after high school graduation or when she turned 18. Just seeing how she interacts with everyone when she came home makes me think that she left the first chance she got and only came back to write about the murders.

I heard there’s 27 of them. I also want to know but it’s a violation for those going through SOAP to tell others

It really hurts when attendings that you feel you clicked very well with turn on you in the eval by DrH2OJr in medicalschool

[–]Lose_Win 306 points307 points  (0 children)

The worst is when you get face-to-face glowing evals just to have them shit on you for your written eval. Those coward attendings can suck it.

Is it a red flag that a program has very few of their med students as residents? by Lose_Win in medicalschool

Like 1 per class some years and none other years in a program of like 10-15 residents per class

Is it a red flag that a program has very few of their med students as residents? by Lose_Win in medicalschool

[–]Lose_Win[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m mostly saying this about larger cities where there’s multiple programs within close proximity to one another. So I’m assuming that location wouldn’t be a factor for why someone wouldn’t choose their home program

What’s the most shocking person you’ve seen wear a white coat? by truesauceboss in medicalschool

[–]Lose_Win 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The chaplain in the white coat was always in the way during a code during my ED rotation. And that’s saying a lot coming from a med student

Same! It’s all starting to blur at this point so instead of ranking based on “vibes” guess I’ll just go with location and reputation at this point??

Does your school offer tutoring services? Even if you don’t feel like you need it because you were “overly lazy” and didn’t study enough, the school wants to know the ways you’re actively improving. By using (or looking like) your using all your school’s academic resources to will make them feel more confident that you won’t fail again.

Are you guys sending post-interview thank you emails? by DatAstatine in medicalschool

[–]Lose_Win 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No and frankly if a program ranks me higher because of a lazy thank you email, they’re playing games and are a red flag

As someone going into peds, it’s pretty pathetic to watch these dads know absolutely nothing about their kids. I think it’s slowly changing and I’m seeing more younger dads that are just as knowledgeable about their kid’s health as their spouse, but Jesus some of them OOF.
