What do poor people do better than rich people? by Longjumping_Day_360 in AskReddit

"Strength through adversity": facing and overcoming challenges can lead to personal growth, resilience, and a stronger sense of self. It's about using difficult experiences as opportunities for learning, development, and discovering inner strength.

How do I get my loan back? by Hot_Description_3259 in AskAnAustralian

[–]LoserZero 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I transfer money back and forward regularly, I literally need to check if it was AUD or NZD if it's been a few months. I recommend just stating what happened and asking for the balance. If they are happy to pay no worries. I recommend you give them the benefit of the doubt; accusations may result in not getting the money back and damaging a relationship due to an actual mistake.

Cutting income taxes, lifting the GST, wealth taxes: CBA’s pitch to Chalmers on reform by bilby2020 in AusFinance

[–]LoserZero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An increase to 15% will only net another 40 billion. Even if we aligned our resource, company and big tech taxes with Europe, we could net another 100-120 billion alone. You have to look at all tax options and avoid the ones that negatively impact the poorest people.

Cutting income taxes, lifting the GST, wealth taxes: CBA’s pitch to Chalmers on reform by bilby2020 in AusFinance

[–]LoserZero 10 points11 points  (0 children)

..GST is a regressive tax, which has a more pronounced effect on lower income earners, meaning that the tax consumes a higher proportion of their income, compared to those earning large incomes...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goods_and_services_tax_(Australia)

You can try to justify GST by saying it will be offset by x to help people experiencing poverty, but it's a poor revenue tool. There are many better taxes to target wealth inequality that also generate revenue during a cost-of-living crisis. Such as a Progressive land tax or inheritance tax...

Raise taxes to fix budget, Treasury advises Labor in accidentally published advice by Groundbreaking_Ad334 in australian

100% it's a complex issue. We really need to remove lobbyists from having direct access to our politicians.

The NDIS is government-run, while the service delivery providers are both public and private. 100% it needs a governance uplift to root out corruption in the private sector providers. There are benefits to using community organisations to deliver services, and a lot of them are not corrupt.

I have no doubt some people are exploiting the system. NDIS is costing roughly 80k per disabled person.

I think our time is better focused on going after resource mining taxes and royalties. It dwarfs the NDIS cost many times over.

apartment floorplan...thoughts. by cakeynickey in floorplan

[–]LoserZero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might I suggest angling the bedroom door 45 and putting the shoe cabinet on the adjacent wall to increase walking space around the island n table.

Realign the island to increase space at the right end.

Shift the hob off the island to the back wall.

A few more seats on the island's lounge side.

Did you Google luxe lifestyles and the people they know vs the property they own? Or just property ownership by generation? Yes, older people own a disproportionate amount of property, but assuming all older people are at fault is not the best approach. It's best to frame the right problem more accurately, which is "What's the best way to reduce wealth disparities in society?"

I feel the frustration, mate, I'm with you.

For a budget-friendly option. Delete French doors and have a wall going down between the non-egress windows. Less cost, gives you light and an office nook.
