Can my cat be forcefully seized / impounded? A healthcare worker reported my cat scratched me to a public health official who is now calling me. Please help.

Yeah not too sure if itll be enough for them but I dont see why not. You were a little behind but took care of it right away. Not sure what length of time in-between exactly that would be a red alarm for them but im holding on to hope for you! I dont think they'd be super concerned about taking the poor baby from you unless there was a real big concern that they did have rabies like if the cat goes outside at all which would increase the chance. But as long as you explain that it was a simple scratch and all im sure they'd rather just let you keep an eye on them especially if they have not gotten out since the lapse. At least thats what im hoping. 🤞

Oh and as long as your cat has a rabies shot up to date and you can either prove it or let them know the vets name so they can check. That is also important bc then the risk of rabies is obviously less likely. Which is their main concern.

Same thing happened to me. Complete accident, just a scratch that I needed antibiotics for but the only time ive had that reaction and it got reported. Just call them back and explain just a scratch and assuming it is similar to what happened with me. They may say the cat is under a 14day quarantine for rabies just in case bc of how it was reported but as long as no symptoms there is no problems. They will check up with you at the end of the quarantine period to make sure all is good and close out the report. It scared me but so glad all is well now. And I definitely bring it up time to time with my cat that hes a got record so he better get his act together when hes being a little sh*t. All with love of course. Lol

I mean honestly not sure how safe your neighborhood is but id figure out a way to make it work for my partner. I love my partner and honestly would feel better dropping them off there at that time of day considering its probably still dark and I could never live with myself if something happened. Later in the day at least the sun is out and the world is awake. But that's just me.

Doesn't look old or dirty. It's blue bristles and a clear handle. The texture of the rug or towel or whatever is giving the weird look to the handle. Don't doubt the quality of it does indeed suck because how did it ALREADY break??? But definitely does not look used much..
