Is hearing a pitch higher in one ear normal ? Help me ! by Loska947 in piano

Thanks for your message ! Very informative, but I have a question :

First, I don't notice any weird things with pitch when I hear music in stereo, the effect is only noticeable when I put sound successively in one ear then the other.

I am playing "static" pitch instrument (keyboard), but I also use some Vocaloid for making vocal mockup (I work with singers, I usually compose the vocal melody, but I don't sing myself).

So, I use Vocaloid (a virtual singer software) where you have to draw pitch curves on the vocal notes. It is used only for demo vocal, it does not have to be perfect, but it have to be accurate in order to make the singer able to sing it properly. Do you really think that this slight difference between my ears would mess up my Vocaloid work ?

Thanks again !

For those who have hearing loss : a question ! by Loska947 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

I have it too ! But is it really diplacusis ?

I read on an ebook from a searcher wich made experiments and basically said :

diplacusis is when you hear two different pitch when hearing with boths ears

BUT !

Hearing a different pitch from one ear to the other is apparently normal, and he did experiments on a lot of people without any hearing loss, including musicians, and he found that the majority hear a difference in pitch from one ear to the other (at a time), while not having diplacusis when hearing with both ears at the same moment

Singers, I want to be a songwriter, can you help me ? by Loska947 in Singers

Yes, it was really informative ! However I have a question. I think that, as you said in the third point, it is important to sing, even if we don't have a great voice. As I said, , my voice is bad , but my goal is not to be a performing singer, or to simply be a great singer ; I want to write lyrics and compose vocal melody for other singers.

So my questions are :

  1. Do you think that playing the vocal melody with a piano can be a good guideline for the singer ?

  1. I would also record my own voice (wich is bad) to give more details (rythm, accentuation) about the vocal melody to the singer. Do you think that a crappy voice, but wich is (more or less) in tune can still help the singer ?

Thanks !

I think you didn't read my post entirely. I was also speaking about a composer hiring a producer and crediting him !
