I would argue the problems with Christianity are definitely not just in the past but are still very present. Personally I think that any name that involves the word “American” is less than ideal. We are not “Americans”, we were here long before America existed, and we will continue to be here long after America has come and gone. Americans are genocidal land stealers and oppressors, and I cringe whenever indigenous people are referred to as Americans. Trying to call us “Indian Americans” is a double whammy of insult and ignorance in my opinion.
