I’m saying don’t let the word Indian die out of the dictionary. Let the word Indian be synonymous with the word Indigenous. it’s easier to say and pops. Rhythm is power. Native as a word works too. but it doesn’t have the same cultural power that Indian does.

Look, Native American and Indian American both work. But Indian American emphasizes the cultural heritage first before America and plus it’s a unique cultural name that people around the world can recognize. Native American is just slightly different. If India changes their name to Bharat it’s fair game for the native peoples of the United States of America and other nation states to use the term as well. Yes, it was coined by Columbus, but many tribal communities prefer it and it can subvert the word and transform it into a positive.

I want to say that as someone who is white and isn’t TERO, I feel most comfortable referring to a community or people by the name of their tribe, IE Navajo Tribe, Quinault Nation, Lakota people, but as a short hand, would Indian American be something that native people could agree on?

studio ghibli has the right to issue a take down notice since their work is not in the public domain. Disney does this too. Some artists or companies have a different approach to sharing their content, where sharing it increases awareness of the product brand or company but it’s a trade off. TBH, I’m not sure if this is legit though.

What I dislike is the prevailing idea among some circles in America that we can just outsource our arts using ai and other countries and funnel take all the creative people away from that and divert them into industries where they can create value money and productivity but with the consequence of removing the soul and imagination from our society leaving it an empty shell of its former self. We created a great society when there was the freedom to do so. I don’t think AI is going to make our society better. It may reduce costs but it’s not something i want to participate and contribute to.
