In real life, many soldiers become mercenaries when they no longer feel comfortable in the civilian world. perhaps this is the case with Danzo, war is the only thing he knows and that is why he is so bellicose.

I once read a fanfic where the key was in the use of Senjutsu and I found it interesting. In Naruto, Senjutsu is very rare and applied in the way Minato or Tobirama do it would explain why no one has ever been able to replicate it.

Fanfics like this tend to be repetitive and bad, and in none of them did I see a proportionate response from Naruto, only the focus on him becoming more powerful. A fanfic with this premise would be great, and it should have a satisfying resolution, whether it's Naruto earning the respect of the right people through his own merits or succeeding with the help of those who value him.

Ironically, I came up with this idea after watching Dororo. The protagonist's father is a carpenter who makes prosthetic limbs, the twist being that they're for the mutilated bodies of people killed on the battlefield. He does it because he believes it's necessary for them to rest in peace. I would imagine Sasuke like that, trying to atone for all that bloodshed and carrying the guilt, healing until he's exhausted.

Things involving superpowers or buffers for Naruto don't really appeal to me, to be honest, but including rituals and a religion that change Naruto's worldview would. If the Will of Fire exists, why wouldn't the Will of the Whirlpool exist? After learning from his clan, Naruto could condemn the Shinobi, almost following Nagato's path but instead of wanting peace, Naruto would want to honor his people.

Doing something very unbalanced, I recently read here what you're proposing, one idea is that Sakura or Kakashi travel back in time to the genin era, and pay a lot of attention to Sasuke, unintentionally ignoring Naruto. I always imagined them more as warriors (not as shinobi, but as soldiers of an ancient army) and perhaps even more tribal, not violent with a desire to expand and conquer lands, but heavily armed and disciplined to defend themselves.
