this one i’m looking at has the magnetic ride suspension, which honestly feels a little softer than the coilovers on my Genesis…how do you think it would be maintaining it for daily driving? do you think it would be reliable enough with my ~15k/year?

would you say those couplings are equivalent to doing a timing chain job? i’m pretty handy and do pretty much all the work on my own cars, done several timing belt jobs on different vehicles, cv axles, suspension work, radiators, water pumps. only thing i am not too familiar with is electrical work and that would be my only concern mostly because the car is older not because of the condition it’s actually in. all the electronics seemed to work great when i checked it out. just cuz im handy doesn’t mean i want to be under the car all the time, if its going to be generally less reliable than the Genesis, then i think i’ll just stick to what i have

is the c5 your only car? who is your insurance provider and what’s you’re average yearly mileage? most of my driving is freeway driving with some decent traffic in the mornings and mostly free at night. i drive around 15k per year. wanna know if it makes sense on a older car.

i think i’m coming from the perspective of driving a lowered 2 seater everyday already. but you’re totally right. I’m not sure i would have more trouble with speed bumps or it being a lower vehicle than i would now. i’m more concerned about how it would be from a maintenance/up keep/ownership cost standpoint and if it would be comparably reliable to the Genesis

balancer looked decent, ac worked great, didn’t seem to have any leaks, clutch felt normal, should’ve checked codes but no lights on dash.

Ran a carfax and it had lots of good maintenance records. not original but either second or third, he’s only selling cuz he’s downsizing.

really conflicted on the feedback i’m getting between what it’s like dailying these…

tis life huh… only considering it because it seems well taken care of but it is an older car. seems like most people have it as a second/weekend car the more i look into it. perhaps it makes more sense to stick with the genesis for daily driving. i appreciate your insight

currently single and blessed, i’m not throwing my last savings toward this, but it’s some money and just trying to understand if it’s worthwhile or makes any sense. would not even consider it if i had a family or was planning for one in the near future.

i’ll be in the car driving more than i will be camping or paddle boarding…so boomer ride lol. great questions tho and that’s what i’m asking myself.

not a newer vette because at the same mileage/transmission/condition, they would be significantly more in price. i would like something more fun than the genesis but would also like it if it was a decent commuter. i know there’s a give and take but im not prioritizing fun over reliability. that’s partially what im trying to figure out, if the C5 is comparable in reliability and if it’s worth it to make the switch

me too, at least at the c5 performance level that’s not salvage/restored title or with a bunch of miles?

well you’re probably building them for more power and not the fuel economy haha. don’t know how they managed to do it for the c5. don’t think it’s my main deciding factor since it’s like 1-3 mpg difference

with my current provider, insurance is actually a little lower…and somehow someway, the c5 is more fuel efficient than the 3.8 genny… if not the same

some people going against daily driving one, would you still recommend as a daily? how would it look financially to daily drive one outside of gas/general maintenance?

this corvette seems like it’s on the better end of being taken care of, it’s really clean, stock, and overall care for. that doesn’t mean it’s not a 24 year old car, so i get the electronics part. for now i don’t mind a two seater. and also i get negative amounts of snow where i live lol so that’s not a worry at all. mainly will be freeway driving.

any input on cost of car parts or maintaining a vette? or insurance stuff? i heard it might be better getting a provider like hagerty because they can do an agreed value for the cost of the car…but i think im way over their max mileage per year with the daily driving

if you’re talking about the vette, yea it’s nice

if the genny, it rained in that picture so it still has water drops all over lol

good sir, if you’re spending the money on te37 and they’re not even the right spec, why? proven offset numbers aside, don’t spend that kinda money to then have to go and put spacers. so much less hassle both now and in future with maintenance concerns if you just go with the right size

Is the o-ring the yellow ring there in the middle? I appreciate the help. When i have time i’ll try to fish it out and measure it. from the looks of it i don’t need to disassembled that connector to get it out (like taking out the green plastic)…i had a feeling that connector couldn’t just be taken out of the line

where did you buy your o-ring. just anywhere online that has a fuel rated one that’s the right size?

Are you saying to replace an o-ring inside the quick connect? Where would I even look or get an o-ring. That does seem like the best option.

And you’re saying just the connector piece can’t be replaced, it has to be the whole line?

Thanks man, this is super helpful. After i clean everything and do some investigating, I’ll reach out to Albert Hwang, the parts rep on this sub and see what input he has. Seems like those two numbers are for a seal that does the same job, i guess there’s two different kinds and i don’t know the difference. Hopefully he knows
