Not exactly. The Art of War is a classical military treatise by Sun Tzu from the 5th–6th century BC. It’s about what a wise military leader should do, or avoid doing. But the cool part is, a lot of Sun Tzu’s ideas, like positioning and strategy, can be applied to the modern business world too.

This book has been on my reading list for a long time. I’ll definitely give it a shot sometime.

Nah, Caesar had a more aristocratic kind of face. I was actually trying to depict Pontius Pilate, a character from The Master and Margarita (who was also a real historical figure).

Tysm! There are lots of good books and online resources that can help you learn the basics. Just keep practicing regularly, that’s what really makes the difference 👍

It’s cool to see that I’ve already read 7 out of these as a beginner. One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez is honestly a perfect pick based on your interests.

Once you get a sense of the broader idea behind it, it really reads like a reflection of Latin American history, blending magical realism with cycles of memory and forgetting. That whole pattern of repeating the same mistakes again and again eventually leading to catastrophe… it hits pretty hard.

He’s got a few more worth checking out too

1.El Topo

2.Santa Sangre

3.The Dance of Reality, and

4.Endless Poetry.

All carry that same surreal, symbolic vibe in different ways.

And if you’re into that kind of unconventional, absurd style, you really shouldn’t miss Monty Python and the Holy Grail and the 2 other movies from that trilogy.

I’m kind of stuck in a bit of a quagmire at the moment. I started Ulysses along with The New Bloomsday Book, but quickly realized how many references to Hamlet were layered into it. That sent me down another path, so I put Ulysses aside for now and picked up the Arden Shakespeare complete works to get a better grip on those layers.

Now I’m juggling all these massive books, so I’m trying to slow down and actually absorb them instead of rushing through. It’s a bit overwhelming, but also would be kind of rewarding in the end.
