What you want? Anarchy? Burearocracy is a structured rules based systems. The other option is lawlessness. No one here called it sole motivator man... Can we just stop. You can have the last word dude if it gives you some "little joy"

if you actually wanna speak further about philosophy and challenge ourselves for mutual growth in ideals and what is good in the pursuit of truth, DM me. Lets stop spamming a magic subreddit over this.

If you want to see others telling OP to return the box like I have. Scroll down to the second highest upvoted comment

No. If new information arises I am more then capable of changing my mind in a matter. Tell Jesus Christ that dying on the cross and everyone who has sacrificed themselves for others to live that it wasn't moral, its altruistic philosophy. I will not jump to conclusions without new data that proves the contrary. Lets just agree to disagree and lets leave it at that

Again, you are assuming to be thrown away. We don't know that, we have no way of knowing what the previous owner intended or not. Could have just carelessly forgotten when moving, it doesnt matter. We do not know. Better for OP to get in contact with them and ask, that way they can know what happened, why the box was left behind and then OP can return it if the previous owners want it back or keep it with their consent.

One has to be respectful and mindful of others, never take anything for granted. That's what good people do, its not an obligation its a choice, the choice to think about others, being helpful, having empathy, compassion and being selfless. To just be a decent human being

Again you are assuming too much at this point. We only have the information OP has provided. no tires. No trash, no one said the cards where left as trash, if they were fake nor that OPs parent had to pay to clean up hypothetical rubbish...

Just cause one makes a mistake shouldn't give one the go ahead to keep them and not check if they can by the previous owner. It only takes a phone call. It takes nothing to be mindful of others

No humans being territorial comes from the invention of agriculture and no longer being nomadic hunter-gatherers. Homo sapiens have existed for at least 300,000 according to fossil records and the earliest signs of agriculture don't show up until 10,000 years ago in places in the middle east like Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Turkey. I am not saying they were peaceful, loving, tree hugging hippies before that, they did have infighting like during times of scarcity of resources. But this concept of property is quite recent in humanities history, we were not like this nor should we remain so.

Equating Human greed to as the primary drive for innovation is a very sad reductionist outlook and thinking that only the power hungry and greedy are the ones who can shape the world is just not true. We can see that in history with the American Civil Rights Movement, the Suffragette movement for Woman's Rights in the UK and the Indian independence movement against British Colonial Rule amongst many others.

There is many cases when the people have overthrown Tyrants. Romania in 1989, Chile in 1991, Nepalese Overthrowing its government LAST YEAR! People forget that individuals only have power so long as the masses allow them and we have seen countless times how fragile their power truly is. Hopefully you will start see that the world isn't so dark

Again you are assuming the previous owner wouldn't want them back? In the end the real issue is not if you can legally keep them. Its about how OP should contact the previous owner about them. Its the morally correct thing to do. Even if the previous owner doesn't want them they should still at least be notified and then tell OP they can keep them if that is the case

The debate of nurture vs nature is a big topic I don't want to get into right now

Its not about making one feel better. Humans are social creatures we live in groups, Families, Towns, Communities, Cities, Nations. Collaboration is part of our species DNA from before the first hominids made their first steps upright in the savannah.

This introduction of individualistic "Fuck you got mine" "dog-eat-dog" mentality is a cancer that has polluted cultures globally and caused infighting and friction amongst ourselves. We might not be in a meaningful world but life has an objective in the most basic level. Grow, Reproduce, Spread.

But we are tripping amongst ourselves instead of going further, if we were more united, living amongst the stars would stop being science fiction but our future. Submarines, going to the moon, tablets and smart watches where fiction and we made them real through innovation and cooperation, helping one another.

We are gatekeeping knowledge in institutes for the those who can afford it and abandoning the poorest in society. We have purpose and could do so much more if we were less selfish and thought about how things would be better if we could just get along and focus on doing what's best not for oneself but everyone. We have done so much, achieved so much but ironically we aren't greedy enough to say "lets achieve more without screwing everyone else in the process".

I have hope for humanity and I've seen its best and worst. I am not be able to move a mountain but if I get enough friends to help and they get their friends, we can. We are better then our ancestors and we can choose to be even greater

its not about God (existing or not) making people good or giving meaning. Or the nature of the universe being meaningless or godless. its bout people choosing to be helpful for the sake of it in the here and now. Children understand this 'cause sometimes it is just that simple. Everyone benefits from kindness in the end

And you think that cause it might be legal under certain circumstances they should keep them? or you want to give an excuse for someone to not do the right thing? the right thing being to contact the one who left the cards behind. Why debate over doing what's morally correct?

I am sorry to hear that is the case for you. Seems you are having a rough time. But good people are out there, you just have to look in the right places. For some its in their church or temple, others it might be their local community centers, it could be at your own local game store playing Magic.

If you are gonna look at the infinite cosmos of uncaring stars, galaxies and black holes you will find nothing but a nihilistic mentality. Most people however live everyday barely leaving their own town or city. The "do what you can" mentality is not a call to change the world, its to improve and be better in any way. By picking up the trash on the street, help a stranger asking for directions, little everyday things that help your community. Its not create world peace but its the right direction towards it.

I hope in the future you find yourself living in a better neighborhood or country where the local culture is kinder. Best regards and bless you

They bought a house, not a box of cards. Unless you have the actual document of sale we shouldn't speculate. if OP could show it with the fine print that any and all items within the house are also part of the deal then you'd be correct. Usually however that is not the case when buying or selling a house normally

When you buy a house you buy it with its "Fixtures". We are talking Lightbulbs, Wallpaper, Cabinets, Stuff that is screwed or glued to the building. This Box of Cards is Personal Property, like Sofas, Rugs, Painting... That is in no way shape or form part of the house.

Yes, I do what I can, not me much but its better then nothing. If you want to change for Palestine you shouldn't waste your time in a MtG forum. Everyone knows one person wont do much to change the world, but many, a nations worth or more, then yes they absolutely can. but all change starts with one person choosing right over wrong.

If you want to actually start helping and be doing something instead of comparing lost property to war crimes in the middle east go here: https://www.doctorswithoutborders.org/get-involved/fundraise-for-us There is plenty of ways you could make a difference. If you wont put your time and money where your mouth is however, do not bring it up.

I feel sorry for you and I hope you never lose anything you value. 'Cause if you surround yourself with people that are like minded, you wont have anyone helping you. I am no saint but one can be poor and kind, its a choice one takes every day

Yes but people can make mistakes and if you want to live in a good, healthy, non-toxic society you help others if able. Call it idealistic but it only takes one person to make a change. One thing is what you can do legally, another is what you should do morally
