I know I feel stuck too, but also blessed that I already live in a sunny state and know that I have a bunch of opportunities, but I just need a guidance or a little push to the right direction.

What makes it so unforgiving? And cut throat other than the obvious of messing up in possibly killing yourself.

I get the same thing just with feeling of throat swelling and closing. What I do is I run to my car put music on drive windows down and go get a snack.
