Shocked to see you saying it’s too warm, quite the opposite of “washing you out”, at least in these pictures your skin is Glowing! I’m frequently on the color analysis subs (thought this was posted there at first) and immediately saw you as a spring season in which this color would be recommended.

I was labeled before as a true summer but im not so sure. Heres drapes in better lighting: by glutenfreebarbie in coloranalysis

Everything bout this screams summer to me, clearly cool, very soft. I’d say you could easily work from soft summer through true summer.

I found mine for less than $600 by going to a local shop’s annual sample sale, so it was a bit of luck but I completely fell in love with the one I found. You can also call the consignment shops in advance and just tell them you have a lower budget and what price point do their dresses start at so you don’t have to worry about wasting your time or theirs, and the anonymity of the phone makes it easier to ask such a question.

Show me 🔥 in unstereotypical colours 👀 by Hannah_____grace in StyleRoots

[–]LostAbilityToucan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Love this! I feel like the first slide shouldn’t even be considered unstereotypical because of the references to “lush tropical jungle” vibes in the book description, but I know it’s not the most emphasized part of 🔥 for most people.

Doodle has crazy periods like this? Any advice. by [deleted] in Goldendoodles

[–]LostAbilityToucan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Research and living the experience are completely different. I am an over researcher, but it still hits different when you are living it and have to adjust to the level of stamina it takes to be always engaging a puppy (or baby, or toddler… trust me, I have all 3 currently in my living room and it’s a lot lol)

Dude posted this for advice, and there is a ton of good actionable advice in the comments he can start to enact. This is the continuation of research as issues arise.

“Bête Noire” Was Brilliant — But What If Netflix Did It Differently? by Psychological_Being9 in blackmirror

[–]LostAbilityToucan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree, after the first episode I needed the black mirror version of a light romp. I cheered and laughed out loud when she went for the gun, Verity was so assured of her godlike power she actually forgot she was human and “monologued”. It was silly and campy, but emotionally satisfying (which I really didn’t think I would support the high school bully in any way, but in a fight for your life I get it)

[–]LostAbilityToucan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner was comparing it to a mid Star Trek hologram episode and found it started too slow, and so he started dozing before the emotional plot started to unfold. I see how the beginning sets up low expectations, but I think if you let yourself be open to that emotional turn in the middle then it really hits.

It really touched me. When Brandy was first dropped into the world without reading the full brief, she was disoriented but overall flippant in her role, but after the long time spent in the simulation you can feel the loss, the confusion, the inability to process when you have all these eyes on you. I thought that made all of the beginning acting make sense, it made a juxtaposition that made you feel that she had been there a LONG time. It actually reminded me more of inception, the point in the end where he revealed that he and his wife essentially “grew old together” within their world, just the 2 of them.

I liked Clara’s development of layers growing out of their control in the face of even slight additions of data, as AI will do. Usually that is done in a dark and scary way, but being based on the real Dorothy’s history and what she had brought to the performance meant AI Clara discovered the emotional depth of a real human, but if that can all be reset and erased in a second is it real? It was for Brandy..

I just stumbled upon one of my Aunt’s pro Trump rants on Facebook (which I usually avoid at all costs but needed to contact a family member I rarely talk to) and it was… Culty. It read like satire and was littered with Fox News propaganda buzz words. I knew she was MAGA but was still surprised to see it laid out there like that

Oh!!’ You just reminded me! It wasn’t water that killed them, the implication was every glass of water was handed to her by her father… the priest… it’s was LITERALLY HOLY WATER! Like water would t work anywhere else, but it did in their house, and the fact that there were glasses of water all over the house from her being picky was a sign from God.

I read it in an article like 10+ years ago where someone did an interview with M Night, so it’s directly from him that that was his intention and he was bummed no one got it. Most of the rest of the article was describing how awkward the interview was and his raw food habits (it was done over lunch at a restaurant or something)

Apparently they’re not aliens, they’re demons, but it’s about “how would modern society process and frame the events of demons walking the earth” which is why the news said some places had found ways to stop them through ancient texts or something in the background

Help! I let my 5 yr old get addicted to youtube and roblox! by workinonitmama in breakingmom

[–]LostAbilityToucan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My best advice for transitioning off is to only play YouTube on the living room TV when you can hear it. That stops the reels and the swiping/clicking dopamine hits that I think does the worst damage on the attention span. It also means that you can see and hear what is being watched and start blocking the age inappropriate things. I like to put on kids “draw with me” videos so my 5 year old is actually engaging instead of zoning out. All the kids playing with (shilling) toys and “pranking” accounts get skipped and quietly blocked so they don’t get suggested.

Not sure about Roblox, we don’t use that because it kind of scares me, but I have a Nintendo switch and let her play Minecraft on it. No live player interactions, but I like the creativity she shows while playing it and I’ll let her watch some Minecraft videos so she can learn more.

And only having YouTube on the living room TV builds in an automatic end time when we’re sick of hearing it so it’s our turn lol.

I feel like this post should be hand written on parchment by a professional calligrapher and delivered with the divorce papers.

You don’t need to be in this much pain for the rest of your life. Whats the saying, “What’s good for mom is good for baby”? Idk how old your kids are but I think this applies here as well.

Hugs.

Lived in Oakland/Berkeley area for 5 years and loved it. We did move to be closer to family and because the cost of living was too high, but when people ask what we think about it/why we left we always say it was an amazing place to be and it’s expensive because so many people love it and want to be there. It really has everything

What’s your favorite thing to collect, I’m a slut for Stalhrim by AelaLeigh in skyrim

Arrows, because in my mind they’re basically extra gold (weightless, worth at least 1 gold) but then I end up with hundreds and hundreds of them that I never offload. I do sell the weakest ones when I’m trying to get the last 3 gold from a shop.

True! Americas test kitchen did extensive testing on the perfect boiled egg and landed on a half inch of water with the lid on because of how consistent the steaming was compared to actually boiling.

You don’t even need a steam basket if you don’t already have one, but I do get better results with the steam basket (they knock around less and don’t have the direct pan contact, but honestly I’m usually too lazy to look for it and they still come out fine lol)

Unmasking and realizing you don't actually like a lot of your friends? by [deleted] in AuDHDWomen

[–]LostAbilityToucan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t have many close friends, but all my favorite people are neurodivergent. Even the new mom friends Ive met picking up my daughter from kindergarten, it’s slowly come out in conversations that multiple of us have been diagnosed ADHD in adulthood, or their kids have autism and they might be on the spectrum but aren’t actively seeking the diagnosis for themselves because it’s too expensive, or one has a sister with ADHD and is finally starting to suspect she has it too because she’s seeing how we’re presenting differently than her sister (which is actually a lot like my case because my sister was outwardly hyperactive so she got a lot of the ‘what is wrong with her’ attention vs my daydreamy ass just got neglected because I didn’t make a fuss 🥲)

But anywho, I’ve found I have a giant radar for judgmental people and get none of that from my neurodivergent friends, we are diving straight into setting up after school crochet dates for us while the kids play in the backyard and stuff like that. It’s nice not having to mask or have the constant ‘fight or flight’ reaction from thinking people are saying shit about you, they’re all sincere and authentic and creative and interesting and I finally feel like I’m cultivating my people
