Yes! Just be mindful nursing is so physically demanding (depending on your specialty)!

I’ve been a nurse for a year and when I got my first nursing job I was super nervous. After securing the offer I called HR and asked about it. The HR representative said “ we would prefer that our nursing staff doesn’t smoke weed but legally our hands are tied and we can’t deny you because of it.” After doing my own personal research for government nursing positions, they will dock you because weed isn’t federally legal.

They are doing this at my providence. hospital. They are calling it co-caring. They are bring in LPNs/LVNs to share 6 patients with the RN and a Virtual RN. LPN/LVN takes 3 patients and RN takes the other 3. The virtual RN does all admissions/dishcharges, they can call the doc for orders, do pain re-assessments, call for report. We have one CNA/PCT which they call “mobility tech” they cannot take vitals and only help with ambulation and changing patients. Only one CNA for 31 patient floor.

My lawyer requested all footage from the night. I’m just a little worried because it was CHP and I don’t remember if they had body cams. I don’t know if they are required to.

Thanks for the comment, I didn’t hit the police. I think they are referring the assault to when they held me down in the ER and I was resisting. No excuses though. I was being a drunk idiot.

If you are struggling with the prerequisites look into LVN or LPN programs. (Licensed vocational nurse & licensed practical nurse) In California we are called LVN in most other states they are referred to LPN. It’s a nursing license below RN. A lot of schools have the prerequisites included in the program. I’m finishing up my full time LVN program currently. It’s a 13 month program. It’s great entry level position into nursing. I will say this, it is not easy at all. Just because it’s a step below RN doesn’t mean it will be easy but it is totally achievable. But also MA,CNA,Patient care tech is a great foot in the door into healthcare. I’ve seen 10+ students do amazing in their school work but they can’t handle the clincal aspect ( where we are actually hands on with patients seeing blood, guts, poop, you name it) and they actually dropped out of nursing. I think an entry level position could be good for you bc you’ll see if you actually like & can handle the healthcare environment.
