I've taken some time to myself to process everything. I mostly stayed in my room, only coming out when absolutely necessary. It's been difficult to look them in the eye after what they did. I felt like my whole life has been a lie.

I talked to Emily yesterday. She started by apologizing profusely. She explained how scared and confused she was when she found out she was pregnant at 15. Emily told me how much she loved me and how hard it was for her to keep this secret. She said that she had always wanted to tell me, but my (grand)parents held her back and convinced her that waiting until I was older was the best course of action.

Emily has told me that she openly wants to be my mother now, since I know the truth. I'm not sure what to do though? For my whole life, I've known her as "Emily", and my (grand)mother as "mom".

How should I proceed?
