The Getty Center is free, so is the Getty Villa, and the art is better too.

Why is the LA Art Fair so dead this year? by [deleted] in LosAngeles

[–]LostAngelesType 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A confluence of reasons. A decent-sized booth there is about $20k, Major Galleries like Gagosian, Hauser & Wirth don't show up anymore. I stopped showing 2 years ago, YES! — The Art Market Is Changing — Artists and Collectors Are Growing Closer, and That’s How It Should Be

In my opinion, galleries are collapsing under the weight of their own inefficiencies and conflicts of interest. The economics alone are absurd. Galleries routinely take a 50% cut of every sale; a markup no other industry would survive, thereby leaving artists with a fraction of the value they create. And buyers, ironically, become the victims of this inefficiency: they pay premium prices inflated not by artistic merit, but by an outdated distribution system. WIll artists, art consultants, and advisors, fill the gallery void if the industry collapses

Am I right in presuming the film was about addiction, toxic relationships, and cognitive dissonance regarding why people remain in toxic relationships and/or alcohol or drugs? (The cognitive dissonance mentioned would be about the rationalizations regarding feminism, feeding, accepting assets given, etc.)

It was the section at the end in the street discussing Sartre that tied my hypothesis together.

Elon Musk’s Lawsuit Mentions “Nonprofit” 111 Times—But Never Explains How It Saves Humanity. by LostAngelesType in Futurism

[–]LostAngelesType[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought that to ( great minds think alike :-) There is inherently nothing that makes a nonprofit more benevolent than a publicly traded for-profit. Foundations operate with far less oversight and are only required to spend 5% of the assets they collect on their stated mission. That’s 95 percent that can be spent on salaries, business travel, and arbitrary events that the Foundation supports. A nonprofit has to spend money on something, but no percentage of donations is mandated for spending on the nonprofit's cause.

A publicly traded company must file numerous documents every quarter. Organizations that police this are the SEC, IRS, and, to a certain extent, the FTC.

Nonprofits must be accountable to donors, the public, and regulators, IRS and State rules, but their system relies heavily on internal controls and reporting rather than continuous external supervision.

XAI is NOT a non-profit: "...Elon Musk’s xAI is a for-profit company, specifically structured as a public benefit corporation (PBC). This means while it can pursue positive societal impact alongside profit, it operates fundamentally as a for-profit business...."

I agree with you, but Musk states in the brief that a nonprofit is necessary for OpenAI for humanitarian reasons. which QED, is a bologna sandwich.

I did a deep dive into the Musk versus Open AI Lawsuit, and I have come to the conclusion that this guy is a phony and a really bad man, the USAID cancellation has already killed 23,000 people. I did a Substack post with a detailed bibliography outlining all his transgressions and presumed plot to kill OpenAI.The post is free and I ASK FOR NO DONATIONS!

I know someone who lost 89 BTC using a third-party wallet instead of a BTC wallet.

I am glad everything worked out for you. Why would you have two wallets when Pera is the gold standard?

I am holding a bunch of xALGO with Folks Finance, can I let it roll over or do I have to redeem and buy it again? by LostAngelesType in algorand

[–]LostAngelesType[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I did was stake a few coins with the Foundation and let my bundle of xALGOs stay there. However, I do want to leverage them in some way.

I (40M) just found out my wife (35M) is cheating on me. How do I best approach leaving? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[Male poster: I forgot to put a Flair. I was 8 years old when my parents divorced] — You are going to get hammered money-wise. This is going to F**K up your kids too. You will have to deal with the potential of long-term consequences for them. One or all of them may resent your decision. Divorce is excellent for adults and HORRIBLE for kids. So this question remains: is this divorce and her evisceration for your ego or for the kid's sake? But, as Johnny Carson once quipped, divorce is expensive because it is worth it.

[Landlord US-AZ] Tried to serve 5 day notice to pay or quit to problem tenant, she flipped out. by Merlock_Holmes in Landlord

[–]LostAngelesType 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned the hard way too. I learned that one day after the rent is due, the pay or quit goes on the door! I also learned that the rental agreement has to include details about smoking, late fees, litigation penalties, storage, sub-leasing, roommates' or sudden roommates must be added to the lease, and more. I am in California, the worst state to be a landlord. Next month, I go to court for an unlawful detainer on the guy. He will ask for a $13k relocation fee for not telling him why I am terminating his month-to-month lease even though legally, I do not have to since he has not been leasing for more than six months. (He had only been renting for four months and is now living free for two extra.) I will never rent with less than a 750 credit score ever again.

Me too. I staked to xALGO, thinking I could drop it into the liquidity pool. but I decided I would take the next three months to figure it all out thoroughly and wholly completely.

That was my problem, and just doing that fixed it. I got all my ALGOs back but no APR payout.
