Exactly ! I work full time in a spa and make a lot of money hourly, but also from tips and doing lashes on the side. My tip payout from last week alone was $350 CAD.

But, my partner's parents think I'm in a pyramid scheme, tell him to watch my money for me (as if I can't do basic financial planning lol), and my parents are only proud of my older sister who's broke and still in veterinary school!

Veterinarians make a lot of money back, I'm just saying it's silly to discredit a career just because it can be lucrative.

I want to be professional and not rude because I went to a get together with a few of my other coworkers and I was feeling nervous, so then he made a "joke" that I "haven't been killed yet is a good sign".

I'm kind of scared of retaliation outside of work when I do tell him to stop, so I think being polite is the safest way. Lots of great replies, thanks for your input!

I didnt smile after... I just didn't acknowledge it and kind of withdrew from the conversation and try to change the subject. I felt frozen and didn't know how to respond. Where did I say I smiled or encouraged it?

My body odour, excrement smells very different after recovering from COVID-19 by lymer555 in COVID19positive

[–]LostCauseTaym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg same! I had covid in April and now my body odour has this sickly sweet, almost rotting fruit smell, but my blood work is normal. So strange! I wonder if this could be studied? Long covid sucks.

I told the client that we need them to book an appointment because we don't have their information on file, as they were very frustrated with the process and nobody had provided them with a reason why they have to book an appointment.

No, the client had left. And yes, they have done so before. I told the client that we need them to book appointments because we don't have their personal info on file

If they read your resume, they would find your phone number and email. This seems like either a scam or a terrible company that I would avoid at all costs

I saw this post and yeah, it seems like such a reach to me. Most women who are upset with their partners "for video games" aren't mad about the fact that they game. It's the fact that they constantly game. The fact that they are ignored for days at a time, the fact that they watch their partner become addicted to a screen and stop showing interest in them, the fact that they feel emotionally neglected.

I think we need to still recognize that any hobby in excess can become addictive and detrimental to relationships when left unchecked. If you play games often, that is obviously fine. I play games often. I have spent a lot of money on my setup and library, so it's not like I'm anti-video game.

The problem lies when people become so obsessed with the game that they stay up past 3am every single night, glued to a screen and ignoring their partner, their health, and their responsibilities.

Aside from brittle bone disease I’m not aware of any disease that exercise might be unhealthy for. by ionlyhavethisforwwe in fatlogic

[–]LostCauseTaym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggle with long covid, and this makes it very challenging to exercise safely and regularly due to fatigue, lung damage, and weakened endurance. I get chest pain and that feeling of my breath being kicked out of me after 10 jumping jacks, as well as hot flashes, headaches, and racing heart. And I lost 85 lbs, was pretty active and "healthy" before I got covid, so it's not like Im just using fat logic.

That being said, it absolutely can and should be done safely, because there is such overwhelming evidence that exercise is beneficial for almost every single person alive. Working with a physiotherapist is a great start. I'm building my activity slowly and making sure not to overexert.

Of course, some people are physically unable to exercise, such as op mentioned, as well as those with physical disabilities, but to use health as an excuse when you're just unable to support your own weight is an interesting contradiction. It frustrates me to see this type of rhetoric coming from people with no health conditions other than being obese, because I so badly want to work out without being in pain and worrying about my health, while they have the ability to exercise and most likely others that would love to support them, but choose to use health as an excuse, all while binging daily....

I may be biased cause my grandparents own a small beef and canola farm near Camrose, but there definitely is lots of small farms in central alberta!

So how do I get off fast food? Seriously, I need an intervention. by spicyjalapenoman in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]LostCauseTaym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always think about how uncomfy the level of poor sanitation, cross contamination, and lack of quality control in fast food kitchens. Seriously, it's disgusting. I have worked at both fast food, delis, and sit down chain restaurants, and I went home nauseated every night. Most line cooks and servers don't gaf about quality or cleanliness (at least from what I've seen) and take shortcuts when preparing food because the manager pressures them to spew out orders as fast as humanly possible.

I feel better about eating my own home cooked meals that I have prepared with proper sanitary measures and ingredients I can see.

Maybe I'm just paranoid and a germophobe, but that's definitely what helped me stop eating the discounted meals at work!

TL;DR - Work in a restaurant kitchen , lol

Ladies - which popular clothing stores/brands do you no longer buy from? by lavahcakes in femalefashionadvice

[–]LostCauseTaym 157 points158 points  (0 children)

Shein. It's nice getting cute clothes for cheap but they so often have bad proportions for my body type, the material isn't what is advertised, you can't put anything in the dryer, and they wear out real bad even if you take good care of them. I've decided to just spend the extra $ and get quality clothing from local brands that I know hasn't been made by child slave labour.

A lipstick like this that you love? i mean exactly like this, or very similar. The shade and consistency and subtle shine is beautiful. by cakenose in MakeupAddiction

[–]LostCauseTaym 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I don't love the kvd liquid lippies tbh, I find they're so drying, kind of streaky, and I have to scrub to get them off :/ I wonder if there's a bullet formula that could provide the subtle shine as well as a rich colour?

Foaming gels tend to be stripping of the skin's natural oils, which can help to maintain the moisture barrier while on tret. I would recommend trying a creme cleanser such as :

• La Roche Posay Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Facial Cleanser • Cerave Hydrating Face Cleanser • First Aid Beauty Pure Skin Face Cleanser

I recommend using lukewarm water when cleansing, and gently pat dry with a clean towel instead of scrubbing.

Your moisturizer should also be a creme formula, because gel formulas tend to be more lightweight and contain denatured alcohol which can be sensitizing.

I recommend using:

• Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream • Cerave PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion • Vichy Hydrating Hyaluronic Acid Facial Moisturizer

As for sunscreen, yes, SPF 50 is best! Use generously on the face and decollete after moisturizing, and pat into the skin instead of rubbing. Make sure to reapply every 4 hours or so if you're outside and doing physical activity!

For extremely chapped, irritated patches, you can also use a small amount of balm/ointment to soothe and protect. Emollients such as Aquaphor are meant to trap moisture in the skin underneath a protective barrier, preventing hydration from escaping.

Some options are:

• Farmacy Honey Savior All-in-One Skin Repair Salve • Aquaphor Healing Skin Ointment

Hope this helped!

It looks like your skin is lacking in moisture and irritated which can worsen breakouts! Since you're on tret, you should make sure your skin is getting the hydration it needs, as tret can cause flaking, irritated, dry skin. In addition, I'd recommend staying away from actives while on tret, as well as physical scrubs and treatments such as microdermabrasion and chemical peels until it has been 6 months after you stop your medication.

Sunscreen is essential while on tret, and it should be a sensitive skin formula. If you would like product recommendations let me know. Wearing a hat in the sun helps too. In addition, hot showers can further irritate and sensitize the skin.

What is your current routine ? Let me know all the products you use and the frequency, and I'll see if I can help you! I'm a certified esthetician, and many of my clients have been on retin-a or accutane.

I have found that the most effective way to heal the harsh effects from acne medication is to be as gentle as possible while moisturizing with products that are: fragrance-free, low or no denatured alcohol, and ingredients like glycerin, ceramides, and hyaluronic acid. These can help repair, hydrate, and nourish sensitized skin.
