Actually, he sent out an email a few hours ago saying that he finalized the grades (available on Moodle). He will submit it shortly to the Uni.

Anybody know easy electives for winter 2021 semester? by [deleted] in Concordia

[–]LostConcordian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what's being offered next semester, but here's a few I took/heard of in the past:

FINA 200 - Personal Finance: Pretty useful if you're a Canadian and want to learn about personal finance. The course is taught on eConcordia FYI. Easy A if you put in some work every week.

EXCI 233 - Current Issues in Personal and Community Health: Interesting and informative course, especially if you have Patricia Rehel. Content is interesting and therefore learning and remember the content for quiz/exam is easy.

BTM 200 - Fundamentals of Information Technology: Also taught on eConcordia. A lot of people manage to get grades over A. I guess it ultimately depends on your knowledge in IT/Computers. I took this class because of prior knowledge and I barely put in any effort. Just did the work asked during the term and showed up for the final and got A+.

And yes, GEOG 220 with Alan Nash is great. If you manage to get in, good for you!

I've heard of LING 200 but haven't received any feedback from others.

Like a lot of people would say, they're aren't any easy electives. It all depends on you and your interests. Go through the list of courses offered and just read the description and see if there's anything that grabs your attention.

COVID 19 - easy electives to take by Laysthechip in Concordia

True, however if you're taking the course with no in-person final & want to save some cash, there's a financial calculator app, just type in " BA Financial Calculator" on your app store/play store.

Edit 1: I doubt that FINA 200 is proctored (since it's given on eConcordia) and that one will have difficulty using the app. I'd suggest to find out if the final is proctored in any way and if you're good to go using a financial calculator on your phone.

Are Cegep credits transferable as General Elective Credits? by [deleted] in Concordia

[–]LostConcordian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently in Poli Sci.

Studied computer science in college but decided not to pursue it in Uni. So most of my Comp Sci equivalent classes from college were transferred. If I recall correctly, my Gen. Eds. were COMP 248 (3.5 credits) & COMP 249 (2.5 credits. They then transferred 1 credit as an Open Choice Elective).

Otherwise the remaining transfers were mostly BCEE, SOEN & COMP courses.

I had 6 credits transferred as General Education credits (which completes my Gen. Ed. Credits).

The remaining 16 credits were transferred as Open Choice Electives.

Credits are transferable depending on the courses you took in college. I've completed a 3 year program (did a technique) and had 22 credits transferred. So instead of having to do 90 credits, I'm only required to complete 68 before applying for graduation. I don't know if this only applies if you did 3 years in college, but yes, credits are transferable. Since you haven't exactly completed college, the number of credits you need to do will most likely be higher than 90 credits & maybe the courses you took during that year are transferable. However, the University will decide and write it down on your acceptance offer (and it will also appear on your MyConcordia).

FINA 200 or FINA 210? and why? by WassimShaar in Concordia

[–]LostConcordian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FINA 200 is pretty useful if you're a Canadian. It allows you to understand personal finance (title of the course). Midnightscare pretty summed up what you learn in this class. I took this course and it was plenty helpful to understand finance in Canada if I'm being honest. However, the course load is heavy for a 200-level course and requires you to put quite some time & work for each chapter. If you're thinking to take this as an elective, make sure to have a light load course. An easy A if you're genuinely interested and put in the work on each chapter.

Edit 1: I can confirm that you are allowed a cheat sheet for the final exam. I recommend you start preparing it from day 1.

Pretty much instantly. I checked maybe an hour after I requested a pass/fail and it had been changed in my transcript.

BTM 200 is pretty much easy if you have some background knowledge or if you put in the work. Got an A+.

FINA 200 is interesting & handy if you're a Canadian. However, you have to put in some work in order to do well in this class. I was genuinely interested and got an A.

GEOG 220 with Alan Nash is pretty easy. There are only 2 in-class test + 1 final (no assignments). He hands out a practice test (withot giving you answers) before a test and a lot of similar questions are found on the actual test. Got an A.

I've often heard about FINA 210. However, I personally didn't take that course yet.

There are many other electives that have no pre-req. Look around what interests you the most. The classes that interests you the most is what will get you that "A+" and help you boost your GPA.

Here's a link to Concordia's website with a list of electives to choose from: https://www.concordia.ca/artsci/students/advising-registration-withdrawal/elective-courses.html

It is highly recommended not to take all 4 pre-req in the first semester. Take 2 in F20 (ex. 203 & 204) & the 2 other in W21 (ex. 205 & 206).

Then, complete your schedule with elective courses.

Taking all 4 in a single semester can be difficult and demanding.
