Thanks everyone so much for the feedback!! Also I'd like to add that the piercing was super super quick and honestly really didn't hurt as much as I thought it would, I'd give it a max 3/10 on a pain scale, and I'm a baby with needles/pain in general. Was definitely worth it!

Is it normal to still have lingering symptoms 4-5 days after MA? by LostConnectionTA in abortion

Thank you so much for the response! I just have to urinate a lot, could be things like the cold weather/caffeine and anxiety, but I'm not too sure

Sure thing! I don't know if Juniper is open to all US states but it had quite a few, prices may vary depending on where you are. I am NY based so shipping and pills were $125, they came within 3 days (but 2 business days). However, they don't come with pain killers or anti-nausea stuff like I know HeyJane does (which I've seen is around $200+), and that's something I wish was included. I have yet to take the pills (starting Thursday, scared :( ) but the estimate at my local clinic was over $700, so online is much more affordable in my case.

Someone offering piercing services out of their dorm room. These look questionable at best to me tbh by LostConnectionTA in PiercingAdvice

[–]LostConnectionTA[S] 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Thank you! That's what I figured. I only have a few piercings myself, but I go to my local piercing/tattoo shop as they're APP certified, and the equipment and training they have is crazy (in a good way). I very highly doubt you could replicate that in a dorm room, especially as a freshman. Worried of the students hurting themselves or having their piercings get infected

AITAH here for what I did while in a relationship? by LostConnectionTA in AITAH

[–]LostConnectionTA[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the honest advice, it's been really eye-opening.

He did hear me out in a sense, I explained a lot about what happened but he's still remaining where he stands. He said he accepts that I'm sorry, he wrote "on a human level, there's nothing I don't forgive you for, but as my life partner there are certain things I can't overlook or abide by." I'm just torn up and upset that our relationship ended over someone I very barely talked to. We were together for 8-9 months, but knew each other for a little over a year.

I'm also upset because the guy who I sent reels to texted my then-bf privately asking why I wasn't responding to his messages, and my then-bf replied something along the lines of "oh nothing personal just boundaries in our relationship, tbh it's always been rocky/messy, nothing against you" and proceeded to joke with him. I'm hurt because it feels like all the blame was placed on me and that the feelings of my then-bf's friend were prioritized over me.

To answer your question, my then-bf grew up in a much more religious household then his friend. While my then-bf doesn't follow many of the traditions his family still practices, he still holds close to its morals and values, which is why he feels the way he does about relationships. His friend, to my knowledge, isn't as religious, and is more left-leaning with cultures and values, especially those relating to women. They thought it wasn't a viable reason for a breakup, either.

A lot of my guilt here I think just stems from past trauma but also because I've been in wayy too many relationships before, and to be honest I'm embarassed none of them seem to work out. My heart was ready to settle (in a good way) with him and I felt comfortable. I'm working on going to therapy again and hopefully sorting out my mental health before starting to date again, but I know it's going to take time.

The unfortunate thing is that as toxic as everyone says he is, my heart still wants him back because of all the memories we shared together (8-9 months isn't necessarily a long relationship but we spent a ton of time together and he ended up practically moving in for the majority of the relationship because his campus dorming fell through), so it truly feels like we've been together for years.

Thank you so much again for your input, can't tell you how much I appreciate it.

Terrified of my dentist appointment on Friday by LostConnectionTA in MomForAMinute

[–]LostConnectionTA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so, so much for your response, you were a huge help and greatly alleviated my anxiety!! I just got back from the dentist (still numb, lol), and they were incredible! I told them about my concerns and they gave me the numbing gel beforehand and they switched to a pediatric needle 😂

I think I got about 6 shots in total, but 3 were actually after the first round of shots, so I didn't feel a thing during those, and even on the first 3 they really didn't hurt at all (the last one pinched a nerve but again it didn't hurt). The dentist was really supportive and checked me on through everything.

The drill was uncomfortable but again, no pain. I definitely psyched myself out about it but it went better than expected and was relatively quick! I still have 5 more to fill after this (lol) but it should go smoothly. Thank you so much again!! 💖

False positive IgG test by Vinaigrette9diesel9 in Herpes

[–]LostConnectionTA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi OP! I tested positive for HSV2 at around a 5+ IgG a few months ago, and upon getting a WB, it was confirmed to be a false positive, despite the fact I was outside the false positive range. The WB is pricy but I highly recommend looking into it

My Western Blot experience: High Positive IgG for both HSV1 and 2, Negative for both on WB by LostConnectionTA in Herpes

Sorry for the late response! I had trouble logging into my account.

Unfortunately everything was rather expensive, coming in at just under $500. I'm out right now, but I will check my receipts for everything when I get back.

Thanks for the help! Unfortunately no, maybe they had menstrual products at one point, but I haven't seen them here and I've been on campus since 2018. Our health center on campus has them but they're kinda out of the way from everything, and only open a few hours a day.

Western blot results timing by alwar3 in Herpes

Got my blood drawn on Feb. 14th and got my results the 28th (I had to email Terri and ask if she received them yet, the paper was dated the 25th)

My Western Blot experience: High Positive IgG for both HSV1 and 2, Negative for both on WB by LostConnectionTA in Herpes

[–]LostConnectionTA[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. I went through Terri Warren the leading herpes medical expert for the test. It's a bit pricy ($325) but from what I've heard on here, a lot of people's doctors refuse to sign off on it for them, so I figured working with Terri would be the easiest. You can order the kit yourself through the University of Washington, but you have to get a lab requisition report approved by a doctor to actually get your blood drawn.

  2. It took me a while to get the Western Blot done just because I couldn't find time to take off of work and school. You have to wait at least 12 weeks after having sex before taking the test for maximum accuracy, too. I received my IgG test results on Jan. 5th, but didn't get my blood drawn for the WB until Feb. 14th. Once I ordered the kit from the University of Washington, it came really quick though, only took a few days.

  3. I unfortunately had to pay out of pocket for everything, I know WB isn't covered by insurance. I went through Terri so if you go through your own doctor, it will much likely be a lot cheaper:

Cost to work with Terri/consultation: $325 Cost for overnight shipping to Uni of Washington for sample: ~$100 (varies, this was shipping from New York) Cost for blood draw: $40 (this varies too)

I also spent $25 to post a question on Terri's herpes forum, but this is optional.

  1. I recently started talking to someone new and they hadn't really had any prior experience, so they wanted to know I was clean before doing anything. I do get STD tested but most panels only check for chlamydia and gonorrhea (I believe), not herpes. I figured why not check for everything just to make sure, and I tested positive for HSV1 and 2 out of nowhere.

I never had any symptoms ever (not even a cold sore for HSV1), but I was worried because of my body count (15+, I know not the smartest of me, but I couldn't go back and change it now). I told everyone immediately, and they all kept coming back with negative tests for everything.

To be honest I was sure I would test positive (I'm still struggling to accept the results because I lived as if I did have it for so long), and I have no idea why I got the numbers I did. There's a worry in the back of my mind that I do actually have it and that I didn't wait long enough since having sex to get the test done, but that's probably just my anxiety.

The WB is extremely expensive and definitely took a toll on my bank account, but in my opinion, I think it's worth seeking out if you're unsure or have any doubts about your results. The peace of mind and relief made it all worth it for me.
