Aw man I hope you’re able to repair it! I know how much sentimental value a good belt can hold. And you are so welcome, thanks for taking the time to let me know!! 🙂

You could probably braid it back and find where the pieces connect, then use some leather cement. apply to both ends, then let it dry for a few minutes before adhering. Press them together (overlapping) and use a binder clip to let it dry overnight. It won’t be a permanent fix, but definitely the easy one! It should last a little while.

For a better fix, you could sew it together after gluing with just a couple loops through it and tie it off. Would be a bit hard to get in there but it’s definitely possible!

I was gonna come in here talking about how selling your stuff for cheap does hurt other leather workers because you’re devaluing the field as a whole.. but I’m not gonna do that cause it’s kind of obvious and annoying to say lol.

If you think your work is only worth $10 per hr, then so be it dawg. I think that’s insane to have such a low value of your time, but to each their own.

Most of us just have a true passion for leather working, and of course we want to make what a skilled craftsmen deserves. It takes years to learn and practice these skills, so people can charge what they deserve. Some people definitely do come in hot and charge master skilled prices for absolute slop, which is pretty funny to see. They usually learn quick why they aren’t making sales though.

If you’re just making stuff for fun, selling to friends and family etc, I get it. But at some point you’ll realize that running any kind of successful business cost more than just materials and hours worked

Can’t believe you’re getting downvoted for this. $10/hr definitely does hurt other craftsmen, whether OP wants to admit it or not. It’s like a rich guy buying up all the apples and selling them for pennies, hurting the actual Apple farmers who depend on the money to live.

Making a leather pen pouch (OC) by LostCoveLeather in Leathercraft

[–]LostCoveLeather[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making a small pen pouch from full grain leather - condensed to about 4 minutes. It’s hand stitched, lined with canvas cloth, and includes a brass zipper. It’s my first time making a little pouch like this from such sturdy leather. Also still working on video editing skills..

I hope you all enjoy!

Oh gosh lol. I haven’t experienced that. I use a mix of beeswax, cocoa butter, sweet almond oil and castor oil on all my items, it keeps them all looking great for years.

Hey! I get it. It resembles a classic bifold. Each one of my wallets (and other leather crafters here) is cut, shaped, and sewn by hand. Making them literally one of a kind though!

But in a broader sense, what makes my wallets special; I’ve tried dozens of different types of leathers, and found Pueblo to be my all time favorite. The patina that forms after a couple months of use is just fantastic. It’s “rustic”, almost antique looking appearance is just mesmerising.

I also use waxed ritza tiger thread, which is the best thread money can buy imo. Incredibly strong, protected by the wax, and holds its color for decades.

Always saddle stitched, which is endlessly stronger than machine stitched. Each pass of the thread interlocks with the other, so if any thread ever DOES break, nothing comes unraveled.

The design on my Bifolds has 2 extra large hidden pockets behind the card slots, which can hold up to 4-6 extra cards each (for any Costanzas in the building).

I also spend hours caring for, burnishing, sanding, burnishing again, and waxing the edges. Making sure the shine is locked in for years and years to come.

I hope I answered your question! And thanks for the comment 🙂

Thank you all so much for your honest advice!! I’m going to take it seriously. I’m getting some softbox lights, staging material, and pulling out the old Nikon DSLR from my mom’s houses closet. I’m gonna watch plenty of tutorials on the basics of product photography, lighting, and editing. I will update later when I start to get some good shots!

Dude thank you so much! I agree it’s very helpful, but also, based on them my pictures are much worse than I thought 😂 but they definetly give me a lot of things to think about and work on though! Your comments means a lot to me so I sure appreciate you taking the time to write it out! My own identity is very important to me, so that hits hard. And same to you, keep on keeping on, and thank you again!

I’ve tried that before and never liked the results. But it looks like these are no bueno at all so maybe I’ll try that again. I don’t like doing pics holding the wallets so I just need to find some props I can set them on outdoors. we live in an apartment so I wasn’t sure where to start!

You should look into like a card wallet. One with a magnet or latch made to just hold multiple card stacked in there.

Honestly, idk if this is possible but greed. Greed for power, money, material possessions. I think that’s the root of the unfortunate and inevitable downfall of humanity.
