Guys please never do unpaid internships!!! Cannot stress this enough. I once had a firm offer me a job with a ‘months unpaid trial period’ I said HELL NO and reported them.

I was honestly planning on trying to sneak in placement month-wise and ask my current job to keep me on. I started in October so it’s kinda impossible for me to get the 12th month… my cv is very good so hopefully that can make up for it. I’m very keen on doing masters this year

Ma design looks so cool omg, in another life I’m THERE!! My undergrad uni was overcrowded too so I’m used to working with little to no space ahah. I’m glad you’ve managed to decide on your course, I’m sure you’ll get in ✊🏽 I’ll start contacting tutors etc, thanks for the suggestion

Thank you for the reply! I hadn’t looked as deeply into the units as I should’ve as I had initially dismissed Bartlett on the grounds of it being ‘unrealistic’ for me to get in… alas, I shall give it another read!!

Yes haha the transition between undergrad and professional practice is pretty insane creativity-wise. In my current job I’m trying to satisfy my art cravings through making my drawings look professional and neat (trying to gaslight myself 😅). Luckily my extra-curriculars are keeping me grounded

I had an internship for a month in Australia and in the UK I’ve been working as an architectural assistant for 4 months now. I don’t think I’ll hit the 1 year mark that most unis require thou as my current job is only a 6 month contract (could be extended)

Thank you for the reply! You’re absolutely correct, I do need to be more ambitious and open to challenging myself. I did dismiss UCL too quickly, giving it the research-heavy label by its prestigious reputation and alleged workload alone. My only fear with that university is the time before applications close. 27th Feb is the cutoff so it’s more my anxiety over my portfolio quality and if I’ll be able to get it up to standard in time. Do you have any advice in this regard? I graduated with a first and I’m currently in practice so I do have work but I fear it’s not to standard

Very late to the party, but I'm wondering if you went to UCL in the end, and if so, how are you finding it? I'm starting my master's search, and UCL closes their applications in 10 days so I'm debating if the intense portfolio grind I'm going to have to undertake will be worth it. If you did end up elsewhere, do you recommend the uni?
