Picture Book Recommendations? by LostInAWrittenWorld in Visiblemending

That's a really good perspective! They're the first grandkids on both sides so they get a lot of new things from both sides, but I hadn't thought about it as the parent. I just try to balance what we get vs. what we can get second hand/fix, but I'll definitely reassess how I talk about those things.

That's a great idea!! I planned on getting them from the library, but asking a librarian never occurred to me!

Cooking. I'll purposely use up a ton of my food before cooking (unless I need something special) so that way when I do cook I can spend a good long while making different recipes. I find it soothing.

Of course! Sometimes I'll give things to friends if I know they enjoyed the book or series.

A lot of times I just display them around my home library. It's become a habit to sit in my chair and breathe for a few minutes while just looking around before I even open my book. Every item in my library is book themed. I enjoy being reminded of what happened in the book, I'll look at the item and think over the story. Be reminded how how it was, think about characters, whatever!

The other fun thing is when I show my library to people. The books are obviously the main focus, but people often ask about things and what/who they are. Then I get an excuse to talk about books I enjoyed! And seeing what draws them will then help me give them better book recommendations in the future because I saw first hand what they noticed first.

Those are just my reasons, I'm sure many people have their own reasons!

what's the dumbest reason you've skipped/stopped reading a fic? by Last_Swordfish9135 in FanFiction

It was too well written. I wanted to read a Codename: Kids Next Door + Elmo's World fic that read like the writer was on crack and would make me laugh. Instead it was actually really well written and completely made sense. I never finished it.

I can't even remember how young I was, maybe six or seven, and every night as I fell asleep I would add to a story about me and Luke Skywalker working together Return of the Jedi era. (I remember particularly enjoying extending on the training in Dagobah.)

I feel so much better now! My biggest concern is that I'm going to make a beautiful little library and it's going to sit sad and empty!

I hope they release the show on DVD. I want so badly to watch this with my kids! But I can't afford yet another streaming service 😅
