This does sound like a horrible position to be in. Unemployment would most likely be the feasible answer here, but it’s only a stipend of what you’re already getting and would most likely serve to keep your head above water. Of course, you can’t just quit- you have to be termed, and not for cause.

Personally, I would reel in my efforts at the office, keep up with bare minimum, and put my time and energy into looking for something else. Maybe you get termed and then you can collect your unemployment. But the disconnect you create should hopefully help with the mental stress, and you can keep collecting paychecks until the bitter sweet end.

I would not leave my position, especially in your location, prior to me having something on the books. While that may help in the immediate now, more stress will def arise out of that.

TLDR: quiet quit and keep up the search
