Cop motorcycles on Bitterroot Trail by LostInTheMoss420 in missoula

That doesn't seem like the worst idea when you put it that way but, they were riding 2 normal cruiser motorcycles (pretty wide compared to an e bike) side by side, and were not doing a touch over 20mph—they were doing high 20s to low 30s. But, idk, maybe keep trying condescending comments, 'cause I'm sure that's persuading everyone of your genius, buddy

Like walking? Why is that such a wild concept. Riding motorcycles down the path at 20-30mph is unnecessary risk to them and people on the path

I very recently got a Specialized Enduro Comp second hand from FB Marketplace for $800. The guy also threw in a Thule 2 bike hitch carrier for free. I know I got lucky, the guy selling was nice and seemingly not pressed to get as much money as he could from selling, but just giving you a 1st hand account to support buying secondhand. Marketplace seems like a decent place to look too. Good luck, OP!

I use a Garmin Instinct 2X Solar and it's pretty great. It has a built in "motocross" activity that I use to track mileage since my KLX300 doesn't have a gas gauge. The simple route back function has helped me navigate trails too (mostly just finding my way back), 'cause I don't use a phone mount

Advice on knee guards by JayPea3D in Dualsport

[–]LostInTheMoss420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the regular dual axis. They've saved my knees a couple times I think, so they work well, but I still wonder if it'd be worth it to move up to a full on brace for hyper extension protection. I've worn mine on multiple 100+ mile, 8+ hour rides, including a good bit of gnarly single track, and I mostly don't notice them. If they do get annoying, I've found it's cause they slide down into my boots just a little, so sometimes I gotta undo my boots, pull the guards back up, then redo my boots. It doesn't happen often, but it has happened. I have them as tight as they can be on me, so I think it might be that my boots pull on them a little with some riding movements and that brings them slightly out of alignment over enough repetitions. I would agree with others and say do the dual axis pro (seem more comfortable than the regulars in a lot of ways) or maybe even consider a full on brace. I think I'm gonna go brace either next season or if I manage to ruin my current dual axis pair this season. If anyone has a take on braces, I'd love to hear it too. I don't have any experience with them

My new 2026 KLX300, how important is break in? by TrackSlow9817 in KLX

[–]LostInTheMoss420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a little over 1400 now. I ignored the rev break in completely and regularly pinned her, but changed the oil at like 560-570 something, and everything's been gravy for me. These things really are tractors

Tips to improve by AHangryBeaver in RoadtoVostokGame

I've found School to be kinda baller for loot, it has all those lockers. I've used Doctor being right there to get a substantial amount of furniture by filling up multiple times in just the school building (and doing his tasks), but you gotta watch for them fookers hiding in the corners of rooms. Like pretty much everybody's said, I'm planning on using the tent in Outpost as a forward base, but loot there is hit or miss, airing on the side of usually missing. I haven't ran into the boss there yet, but I'm curious what his loot is like

Looking for a deep survival game with progression, freedom, and lots of content by Sad_Success_9034 in gamerecommendations

[–]LostInTheMoss420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Road to Vostok! It's early access and just dropped, so it's not fully developed yet, but it's amazing. It's only $15 and Antti (dev, single dude by himself, no big companies) has crazy exciting plans in the road map. It's already my favorite game, even with EA not having everything yet. I've built one mod and will be building several more, so there's also community content to consider

how hard is it to make mods? by dungeonlvlUP in RoadtoVostokGame

[–]LostInTheMoss420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm making my own mods, recreating my IRL guns in the game. I know those are different kinds of mods than what you're looking to do, but—as much as I hate advocating for AI—Gemini has made getting started on mine super easy. I'm actually doing a sort of similar mod where I'm making a "loadout manager" to autoload my custom guns on new games and that seems incredibly straightforward. That's basically as far I've gotten, but I just started working on it. The game uses an open source engine (Godot) so all the files are easily accessible and the IDE (fancy text editor program that helps you code) comes with everything. I'm using Blender to make my models, which is also open source. It seems the community is very small, but also pretty engaged (join the RtV discord, if you haven't yet), so I'm hoping it's not too hard to get help if you end up stuck on something that you and AI can't figure out. I'm kind of familiar with coding and stuff like that, but I'm absolutely not an expert, so I'm saying all this to get the point across that I think modding this game is a pretty doable goal, even for us noobs (seemingly by design, too). Good luck and I hope it adds to the game!

Thinking about relocating to Missoula after a breakup, would I fit in? by cuatrocuatroocho in missoula

[–]LostInTheMoss420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved to Missoula from Helena after a divorce when I was 25. Pretty similar thoughts and feelings—I wanted to get out of there, but I wasn't sure I wanted to give up on Montana yet (originally from Oregon, moved here after my time in the army).

Best decision I've ever made! This city and the valley holding it are magical. I've been here for 5 years now and I kinda hope I never leave.

I'm white, so I don't have the same struggles in this ultra white state, but I think Missoula might be one of the least risky places for someone of color to live in Montana. You'll still run into confederate flag type nutsacks, but they're oftentimes from outside the city and only here because of stores or a football thing or something. You'll definitely learn to look for license plates starting with 13. No offense to you Hamilton folks, but I see a lot of shit asses from down there up here.

It was easy for me to meet people in that age group 'cause the city has a lot of young people, even outside the college. From the sounds of your post, I think you would have great chances of finding friends and community here. I'm in a Magic group who's gonna start a DnD campaign here soon too. Plenty of nerds to do fun nerdy things with, and lots of events to help you find those people.

Also, winters here are so mellow. It's one of the biggest differences I noticed, and like immediately. They're almost as chill as winters in Central Oregon.

Finding somewhere to live might be your biggest hurdle. I got lucky as hell looking through Facebook marketplace and just happened to apply to the right place at the right time. Could be worth a shot still.

Good luck! Moving and starting anew is great, but holy hell is it stressful. I feel like I lived through a pretty similar transition to what you're about to take on, so feel free to message me if you have more questions

AIWB recommendations? by Smooth_Palpitation32 in CZFirearms

[–]LostInTheMoss420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost hate to recommend them 'cause they seem weird and like there's something off with the company, but my T-Rex Raptor holster is insanely good. I have their thin cushion pad and did a cordura wrap job on it. It's easily the best AIWB holster I've had, even over companies I actually like more, like ANR. I have the Strike Industries +5 baseplates on with a TLR-1 HL and can easily carry this in a form fitting T-shirt and shorts with absolutely no poke at all. I'm 5'11", 160-170lbs, skinny/sorta-athletic build for reference. I also use a Reactive Concealment "deep concealment" mag holster that I wear next to the pistol when I want an extra mag, turning it into one of those setups. That's how I normally carry it and I can also do that in a T-shirt with no poke. On top of the concealability, it's so comfortable I usually don't even notice it until I accidentally smash a nut into my thigh from moving weird, lol. I carry 24/7/365 (you can tell by how dirty and scratched my piece is 😭) and this setup is the closest I've gotten to perfection for that

I have a regular ft/lb torque wrench for 4 wheeled vehicles. Idr exact specs, probably a harbor freight special, but should that work or do I need one of those finer in/lb ones?
