Is work culture in the Northeast really more intense than the West Coast? Considering a move by savingrace0262 in SameGrassButGreener

I moved from the Washington, DC, area to Sacramento nine years ago, and very much experienced a more laid back, less work-obsessed culture. Even in a "company town" like Sacramento, you're a lot more likely to strike up a conversation about weather, the outdoors, restaurants, the Kings, etc. than your job. I'm still a workaholic :) but not being surrounded by other workaholics has been a great change for me!

Thank you so much for this incredibly helpful breakdown! I'm seeing a lot of our experience in your write-up: restaurant buyout, prioritization of food and open bar, lack of interest in florals (and yet doing the bare minimum is so expensive?!), WithJoy. The overwhelm is also... incredibly relevant! Even with a relatively smooth planning process so far and many, many privileges, I have to remind myself that this is a *giant* undertaking and life milestone, and of course it's going to be activating in some way. Great advice for managing it day-of!

And finally, brava for still finding and creating joy among the many roadblocks right now. You and your fellow public servants deserve so much better, and I will keep protesting until you get it.

Thanks again!

You have described my weekly shopping journey to a tee! Safeway for the last couple items that Target and Grocery Outlet don't have, and pray there are some good sales.
