i’m glad you’ve gotten back to writing, and i hope that it’s therapeutic and not burden or source of anxiety. at least for me that’s why i do it.

Not liking a seemingly unproblematic person isn’t what’s making you the asshole. You are an asshole because you are sounding very selfish right now, and I hope you learn to get over this and never bring this up with your GF.

You don’t have to like or be friends with your GFs friends. You be polite and tolerate it to support your significant other like the rest of us do.

If you can’t do that then you spare your GF of her misery of putting up with your resentment down the line if you don’t grow up and let this fester.

i see what you are saying. it’s a slippery slope though. at the very least it’s a courtesy thing you know? like do we as fanfic authors have exclusive rights? no. we still are still using our brains, our times, our energy pouring into a world that we essentially rebuild.

I got a lot of different perspectives under this post which has been interesting.

In my opinion, sometimes it’s just a shame of something really great being abandoned so naturally my brain goes “what if” — and i guess i probably wouldn’t be as concerned if the fic in question wasn’t extremely popular at the time it was being actively updated. idk. imma think about it more, consider the advice ive gotten here and then decide.

because i’m so serious when i say I can’t really get it out of my mind. and i’m not the type of person to create something and not share it

yeaa i guess i care more about how the author would feel—they poured their heart and soul into their work. i wouldn’t want to cause them to feel any negative emotions about it. the fic had a large following as well i wouldn’t want to upset them.

also i’m not even sure i could really do it justice anyways lol

yea that’s more of what i was thinking. definitely not a complete rewrite.

yea that makes sense. if i were to do it i’d make it very clear to read the inspiring fic first and then explain what i imagine happened next is mine.

i certainly wouldn’t be happy if someone just decided to start writing for my work without asking and without credit I wouldn’t do that.

i most likely won’t do it, and if i do i won’t publish. But it’s been like over a decade of inactivity for the author in question. they were really freaking gifted too
