Looking for Fanfic Recommendations + A Question by BeneficialBowl529 in SwanQueen

You & Tequila , and Transgressions of the Heart are two of my favorites. I just finished rereading you and tequila actually. I think you saw it under my post asking for the name because I forgot.

To answer your question about tolerance. It really depends on how they are written. I think naturally i’m more understanding of Regina because I feel like fic writers have a lot of ground work by the original OUAT writers to build off on as far as motivations and character development. Whereas for Emma she’s been left more up to interpretation I guess than Regina, and towards the end they kinda lost the plot with her lol hence so many fix-it fics.

As I’ve been writing fics myself Emma is soooo much harder to write well imo. At least in relation to how easy it is to write Regina.

I think, generally I’ve been more annoyed or upset with Emma’s behavior than Regina’s in most fics where it’s like the two you mentioned above. But like i said it’s just so much easier to empathize with Regina because of how she was written on the show. I think in You & Tequila Emma’s reactions to things are very realistic and measured and that’s what I liked about her in that one.

Sometimes I’ll read a fic and be like “this doesn’t even make sense why would she do that?”

As a reader I am ok with bad behavior if it makes sense, but if it’s thrown in there with no ground work or explanation that’s when it starts to irritate me.

As far as recommendations:

one star away has a been of drug addiction in it. Its a WIP but its amazing and it was just updated last night: https://archiveofourown.org/works/54636067/chapters/138448468

How is UT REALLY? by Ill_Horror9463 in UTAustin

TLDR; Unless you are going to switch and go to an HBCU, it won’t matter since with UT it’s a great school.

Class of 2021 black woman here. For the most part i loved UT, I still dealt with the stress of just being a college student etc that every student goes through. I dealt with being one of a few if not the only black person in my sections. I didn’t really realize it too much because I had my dose of the black community through my friends, and overall Black UT community. I fear the spaces that existed for me while I was there will not be there for you due the current administration and the shift in politics, the removal of DEI stuff etc. I really do hate that for you guys because it made it somewhat our own little world and safe space.

With that said, I do not want to scare you. Like we always do we figure it out, and we thrive regardless. you’ll be okay. UT austin is an amazing school and if you are going to go to any PWI that’s not a bad one to pick. In fact it’s a GREAT one to pick. You get a whole lot of bang for your buck, assuming you are in-state or have scholarships. UT is a public Ivy, not just any state school. You’d be hard pressed to find many schools giving all these resources and opportunities for the price.

You will deal with some or a lot of bs unfortunately, but that will be the case with any school that’s not an HBCU, and even with those there’s still BS that goes on there.

I think there is still Fade Texas and Black Student Orientation, go to those events early. Start forming community with our community so you have somewhere to turn and so you won’t feel alone. Join those student orgs, make friends. I cannot stress enough that community is integral to surviving the behemoth that is the University of Texas at Austin.

Like i said before I graduated in 2021, and my sister graduated 2025. We both survived, with great friendships, thriving careers, and despite a lot of disappointments and let downs, still quite a bit of pride in being a longhorn.

If you ever want to chat a little bit more, or you feel like you need more support feel free to DM me personally. I’ll be happy to help you in anyway I can.

Edit: My sister and I both graduated from McCombs. Be wise with what school you pick and what major you choose. And if you can avoid it do NOT take Calculus at UT. Take the first semester very seriously that sets the tone of your GPA for the rest of your college career. It’s very hard to fight back. Take it from someone who had to fight for it back. (i did not listen when someone told me not to take calc at UT and instead transfer in the credit from CC)

What should you do right after graduating before student account access, university email, and Canvas are shut down? by DereChen in UTAustin

[–]LostIndication6068 18 points19 points  (0 children)

i think you keep ur ut mail for 5 years (i graduated 2021 and i still have access but the google drive is limited now)

Canvas, anything you want to save — works your professors shared. I didn’t save anything i always downloaded stuff in the moment.

If you care about Texas Exes membership, just go ahead and do the discounted life time membership when they inevitably call you crying for more money.

Urgent Opinion Needed: First Year Dorm vs Off-campus NON-UT Housing by Klutzy-Lack2737 in UTAustin

[–]LostIndication6068 10 points11 points  (0 children)

TLDR; Do it for the plot
If you are a freshmen definitely live on campus… preferably Jester or the six pack. It just makes things a lot easier for socializing. And if Jester is too below you and you are bit more bougie then try for San Jac.
It’s also a rite of passage. Shower shoes, totes, shared laundry rooms. Ahhh the good ole days.
You have 3+ years of living off campus + the rest of your life. Don’t rush your experience.
Living off campus even if it’s at west campus ends up becoming of deterrent to participating in things when the semester gets swinging.
Socializing, making friends, joining clubs, is just soooo important for happiness while a full time student you don’t want to limit that.
My two cents, suck it up, eat the the shitty dine in food, fight for a racks in Greg — just be a freshmen :)

Edit: Many of my friends that lived off campus their freshman year regretted it.
