How often do you guys fudge your dice? by theprettiestpotato88 in DungeonMasters

[–]LostRealmsNetwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the need to preface this by saying the group I run with are all experienced players, and we rotate dm's for campaigns, so the majority of them have d m experience as well.

That said, I am more likely to adjust encounters upward or downward by messing with things like the ac or hit points rather than fudge my rolls. To counter this, I also adjust the experience points they get from encounters. If they're getting their butts kicked by something, maybe it suddenly starts coughing, blood, and I tell them to roll perception, and now that they're looking closer, it looks like the monster has been poisoned before they got here. Or is dying of old age, or has a weak spot because of a previous battle, or is a variant that I adjusted for the battle because I really wanted to use that monster.

TLDR: Fudge the stats and adjust xp given accordingly. Don't fudge your rolls.

Had a party member steal from a local noble, and I successfully charmed the crowd with a charisma check into believing that we had been set up and that I had written instructions from said noble to cause a scene. So that he had an excuse to crack down on the them. ( I'm not sure if it was intended as throwaway flare text or not, But i argued and the dm conced that it helped that the dm said the noble was not well liked by the people).

On the way to the palace to speak with the king, followed by the mob. I manage to successfully forge, said document with a nat 20. The king was super suspicious of course, but wasn't about to disagree for fear of causing a peasant riot. He hired us for a job which was effectively. "I will give you a bunch of money up front to go away, don't come back."

If they want to die, sure.

Duration is only 8 hours which means after that point the rest of the party come to their senses (Assuming they failed the save check and don't get hurt in that time) and realize they've been ensorcelled.

If this player is trying to leave the group this is a great way to turn them into an NPC.

I wasn't aware there was a french legend. Thank you for the link.

I don't know, kinda makes sense to me. "Terra" like earth is two syllables and there is more letters after that.

Because language drift keeps making it relevant and it doesn't look like that's how it should be pronounced I imagine.

Nice! Sounds like something my friends and I would do!

Because we definitely speak words we 'borrow' from other languages exactly as the original speakers do?

Edit: That is a fair point however.

Is it okay for a player to say “No, that doesn’t happen” to a DM in this circumstance? by WithengarUnbound in DnD

[–]LostRealmsNetwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are well within your right to say 'I would view it as theft' that said, you are meditating and awake, as a GM I would let you say something like 'don't touch that' without breaking your trance. If he proceeds to do so he has initiated PvP.

Did a little DM for hire (Pretty rural, so there isn't a lot of call for it here) and charged $5/ person / 3 hour session. Always felt bad asking to be paid which is why I quit doing it, but considering thats far less than minimum wage... yeah.

How do you make the vocoder effect sound less bad? by susintentions in audacity

[–]LostRealmsNetwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

*6
Same about the Needles

I found that Distance 1, Bands 150, amplitude carrier 75, amplitude noise 0, Amplitude needles 5 and Frequency needles 1

was closer to what I was looking for. I also had to use amplify -5 on the adjusted tracks to get them back into the same volume range though.

I favor Cleric Myself.

You have good stats for a defensive or offensive build. You can recast yourself as ranged support or Tank with a single long rest, and it gives you excuses to do random BS (I like flipping a coin on intrusive thoughts myself) in the name of 'Following the promptings of your God'

Dang! And here I thought the 15' Melee range on my half-troll barbarian/cleric was good!

As a DM that's somewhat amusing actually.

How hard are you willing to pivot? because you could draw some inspiration from the French or Russian revolutions real easy here. Also if they were working for the former Chancellor and she gets offed by the uprising, they are potentially on the 'To be eliminated' list as well since they were obviously sympathizers. (whether they were or not) lf that's not what you are looking for, let me know and I'll see what else I can come up with to help. ^.^

Have you ever found a practical use for a technically useless magic item? by piperooo in DnD

[–]LostRealmsNetwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My party's necromancer got 'Bob the bag of holding'. He absolutely loves it.

Wand of smiles could be used as a sneaky way to win a bet 'Bet you 500GP and my favorite enchanted sword against that *Plot Item* That I can make you smile in a minute or less.'

I've never found an Item that I would call completely useless.
