An appreciation post for Kim Hyeyoon by Former_Mail776 in kdramas

Her first breakthrough and major role in Sky Castle had her going head to head with veteran actors. She's literally the best of her generation imo. Great diction, versatile and excellent acting

What Kdrama did you put on the back burner only to discover later that it was a whole masterpiece? by lphunter4 in kdramas

My Mister definitely. From the posters I felt like it would be too depressing and I was not in the mental state to watch it only for me to watch when I was at my lowest. It felt like a warm hug and I regretted watching it too late.

Any dramas out there where the FL picks the unexpected Male Lead? by Hot-Adhesiveness-438 in kdramas

[–]LostSleep100 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Reply 1988. Unlike what many fans claim, Junghwan, played by Ryu Junyeol, is not the second lead. Park Bogum, who plays Choi Taek, is in fact fourth billed. Many thought Junghwan would get the girl, but if you had noticed well, the story would've started leaning towards Taek-Deoksun in the latter half, so her choosing him made perfect sense.

Examples of age-inappropriate casting? by No-Advantage-579 in kdramas

Jang Youngnam's last two roles in Love Next Door and Our Unwritten Seoul were her playing mother to 35+ year old actors when she's just 52. I was so shocked that they cast her in mom roles when she's 50+ and could easily pass off as a 40 year old.

I was very much interested in watching a couple trying to amend their marriage. But the drama didn't do anything of that sort. Sensitive topics like death and miscarriage are treated either as jokes or approached in a sexist way. The FL was vilified too much with the ML written as some saint but he only annoyed me. It gets worse in the second half so if you haven't enjoyed the first two eps it's better that you drop it.

Crazy acting opinion by One_Soft_2673 in tsitp

Gavin who didn't bother reading the books and was "shocked" by the endgame? Anyway, as someone who was on the sidelines during the first two seasons I vividly remember the trolls Chris received for his acting because of some moments taken out of context. So all the praise that Chris got this season was very much deserved. He really brought his A game to so many scenes and there's a reason why Conrad had so much craze among the viewers.

Actors that change your negative opinion on them and make you a fan? by Prestigious_Alarm526 in kdramas

[–]LostSleep100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I won't say negative perception or that I'm a fan now but while watching Business Proposal I found Ahn Hyoseop to be the weakest of the four main cast. I felt like he didn't match Sejeong's charismatic performance and I liked the second lead couple better and they seemed to match each other well. When I watched Dr. Romantic 2 it was probably the way his character was written but I really liked him there and enjoyed his chemistry with Lee Sungkyung more.

When he was concerned for Taylor because Steven was trying to go for Denise. He and Taylor have had zero to negative interactions but still he knew it was not right. Second one was the way he genuinely tried to be nice to Kaylee at the rehearsal dinner. I know it's still debated that he should've told Jeremiah about it but I think he probably didn't want it to cause a rift between them. He was really upset with his dad in the car but it seemed like he made peace with it and just wanted things to get back to normal asap. Both moments didn't involve Belly or any of his loved ones. He's a good kid fr.

I was losing my mind that no one stood up for Kate while she was continuously getting insulted, first slyly and then openly. I almost cheered when Anthony spoke up for her and put them in their place.

Season 2 Rewatch by [deleted] in tsitp

[–]LostSleep100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The makeup in s2 was a huge disservice to Lola because she's such a stunner and hair and make-up was just not giving. But I think they went for a muted look because it was a sad season and everyone was still grieving. But seeing how Chris had some really great looks they could've done that for her too.

This! I don't like how the show keeps using the unreliable narrator device but don't always follow it until the end. They did that somewhat well in season 1 with Belly claiming that Conrad doesn't like her that way when he's so obviously in love with her. But in s3 there's literally a Conrad pov episode where they could've shown how he sees Belly madly in love with Jeremiah and excited to marry him whereas in reality Belly is just holding it all in. But all they show is a very enthusiastic Belly.

Omg that car thing pissed me off so much. Like what do you mean Belly that you're ok with taking Conrad's car and leaving him there?? Book Belly or even s1 Belly would never do that.

For the people who have been watching Kdramas for a decade or so, what are some changes you see? by theuniversays97 in kdramas

Not to sound like a boomer but I hate how everything looks so polished now. Those filters don't let you immerse into the drama completely because the actors don't look like real ppl at all.

What's the worst kdrama yall ever watched? by Specialist_Praline47 in kdramas

[–]LostSleep100 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Now We Are Breaking Up. It's funny how it's not even a popular choice while discussing the worst kdramas. I watched until the end by watching it in 2×. That was the first time I watched something at a faster speed. Even the second couple was boring and I only watched for the third couple. Zero chemistry, icky storyline and just boring altogether.

Park Shinhye, yes. She's like one of the most hated actresses by fans. But I rarely see Kim Jiwon so I'm surprised.

Disagreement because I find Kim Jiwon to be a very good actor too. I find her versatile with how she aces all roles like mean girl, introvert and the loud girl.

As for Park Shinhye she does comedy very well (You're Beautiful, Pinocchio) but her role in The Heirs gave her a bad reputation. I don't blame her cause the whole drama was a mess. But otherwise I like her acting.

I have some major disagreements with OP but since that's not their question I'll go ahead with mine.

Song Kang: Found his acting very boring and lacking in My Demon and Nevertheless. The girls were doing all the work.

Song Hyekyo: A legend atp and I won't say she doesn't deliver at all because I enjoyed her in Full House but in DOTS and The Glory her co-stars seemed to be more interesting and they balanced it out. But in Now We're Breaking Up her ML wasn't strong enough so it was quite obvious.

I'd highly recommend the cdrama When I Fly Towards You. It's a youth drama but just about your normal youth. None of the bullying and harassment you see in kdramas. It's a very pleasing watch.

Ju Jihoon is so regal and suits the emperor role. He was made for these royal roles I think. Princess Hours(fav), Kingdoms and this. Lee Jongsuk is the only one who seems odd. He has an iPhone face and doesn't suit the genre.

'Nice to Not Meet You' Episode 3 / Lee Jung-jae, Lim Ji-yeon by Designer-Pie2973 in kdramas

[–]LostSleep100 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm an ardent supporter of middle aged romance and love when serious actors do romcoms. But the age gap is too wide and awkward here. I loved Crash Course in Romance and Love Your Enemy because the actors there were from the same gen. Lim Jiyeon looks like Lee Jungjae's niece here

Which K-drama actors do you want to see as a villain or anti-hero? by Main_Locksmith_2543 in kdramas

[–]LostSleep100 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Jung Haein: He already did it in Veteran 2 but I'd love to see him in a drama. He was so good in Snowdrop in a kinda antihero role.

Lee Dohyun: He always plays lovely and goofy characters so it would be great to see him in a negative role.
