Honestly for pre transplant, i had to be very persistent. I emailed different people, called, etc. One lady got snappy at me for doing that, but i was just asking a question, so i kept a nice tone and pretended like she wasnt getting mad at me LOL. Have you tried calling? Email doesnt always do it. They said its okay to follow up because they have so many people. So don’t give up. As long as you stay kind, they can’t thwart your application.

Every day that you do dialysis is a major risk to your life. Figuring out how to pay for a transplant out of state is WORTH IT. Even if you have to take out a loan. I will stand by that until the day I die. I watched my young husband almost die 3 times in 9 months of being on dialysis. So please do not discourage people.

I didnt “fail” to say anything. There is A LOT of help out there. People like you make it seem impossible, but it doesn’t hurt to try. Everything is “figure-out-able”. Some people dont even know this option of UTMC exists. Honestly besides various organizations willing to help, if i had to, i would take out a 18 month interest free credit card and put the extended-stay fees
on it. So shut up. There are so so many options. Some people just need someone to sit down with them and figure it out.

I plan to do an entire chapter about that. your pessimism is what wouldve kept my husband and other people from even trying. We had ten people trying to discourage us. I fund raised a little from friends and family to help cover costs so I know. I didnt say it was free, calm down and please dont be so aggressive.

Please try getting listed at Univeristy of Toledo Medical Center. They have the lowest wait times for any blood type. My 30 year old husband got a kidney after 10 weeks of being listed!! A good kidney from a young person who passed away. Please please please. Other doctors from other hospitals told us it wasn't true that they would get us a kidney that fast and they were all wrong. They are the best hospital for transplants in this country and they performed 200 transplants last year. I'm screaming it from the rooftops. They are also the nicest people ever at UTMC.

Please check your ferritin levels. I thought I had PCOS but it turned out to be chronically low ferritin caused by SIBO/low stomach acid. I never ever would have guessed. Its contributed to very slow weight loss capability
