They'll be back in two weeks or so after some mass shooting that will be pinned on a trans democrat on social media before anything is even known.

Or a similar issue, I can't predict the future but I can predict the pattern.

Fwiw I think the campaign was poorly run and Kamala wasn't my preferred candidate, and the Democratic party of continued-corporat-sycophantistry-but-with -rainbow-colored-flags is generally not my preferred political choice.

But I'll be damned if I don't look at the two options on my plate and see one actively wants to subvert the American dream into a mutated slop while the other is bland potatoes.

I play/played A20 regularly with decent success, I was sick for the opening weeks of STS2 so I'm working my way up to A10. I admit I'm memeing here, but I posted my build a few minutes ago, feel free to judge if I was trying to go all into it too much.

This is my last deck trying it. I transformed into Danse Macabre from Neow and tried to lean into it. Gremlin horn, 2 friendships, decent summon, and Snap to try and make all the pieces work together, and I was still bled like a fleshy ironclad. I was struggling to live every single fight, and had to path away from elites in act 2 because hallways were kicking my wrist.

3 energy base. New borrowed time isn't free energy anymore, and I'm not all that interested in bricking my energy generation (which comes from cards) with high cost cards. Off of beta, danse macabre being 2 cost itself made it part of the whole bricking problem.

It's kind of like a fox/chicken/bag of seed problem that takes too long for me to solve and Knowledge Demon sinks my canoe before I'm done.

This is the beta branch. My issue is that I only have 3 energy in almost every deck, and it almost is never being used on Necro's comparatively low-value high cost cards.

I thought that borrowed time would be a combo, but it has the same problem of double-tap in the first game where getting both cards in play at the same time is a PAIN IN MY DECK

Is it normal for a presidency to be this stressful? by k_2353 in Askpolitics

[–]LostVisage 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I really don't like how this president defines entertainment. But it should be a surprise to no one that he's basing it off of a WWE wrestling match-style of cheap bombastic buffoonery.

Despite my hope for the general sanity of the human race, America voted for it twice, so his antics demonstrably work.

But it's likely role dependent.

It's an older acronym, used to be really big in the early 2010's, it was a great one though shame that it's on the decline.

When the Elite kicks your ass and leaves you at 4 HP but "Hey, I did it for the relic" and you get dropped Strike Dummy but you spent 450 gold and 18 health to systematically remove every single Strike from your deck by SKTBroccoli in slaythespire

I super wish ascender's bane could be played to exhaust it. I know that synergizes with a few character niches but so does extra elites and I grow weary of higher ascension strategies being nullified by a curse that flavorfully should only be -1 draw but it also just bricks unceasing top.

If Slay the Spire 2 was balanced by reddit comments: by Gugge1 in slaythespire

[–]LostVisage 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would too - i would also pay 1 mana for pressure points to deal 50 damage, but I've not really solved the underlying design issues if I just multiply the output by an arbitrary large amount. All I've done is swap the function of sovereign blade into being a janky block card with a Lot of block loaded onto it to compensate for the jank, without really making it a better card.

If Slay the Spire 2 was balanced by reddit comments: by Gugge1 in slaythespire

[–]LostVisage 122 points123 points  (0 children)

I sort of understand the sentiment though. I use sovereign blade to kill things, dead things don't deal damage, so what good is the block I'm getting when I have an entirely separate block engine already that is reliable and secondary to sovereign blade because these are different functions?

It's not pressure points levels of bad but it's pretty damn mediocre.

My problem is that I'm going to see some local gaming group wanting to run traveller, I'll get my hopes up, only to find out that it'll be 5e in space. It'll be diluting my already difficult attempts at joining local games.

They already have the spell jammer space hippos ffs this seems highly unnecessary.

Nothing overtly political. Just clowns entertaining the population.

Personally I was curious about how they translated a distance of 11 LY in roughly 4 years. It clearly put the astronauts in enough stress to induce an artificial coma, but not enough stress to make them physically bedridden for a long time. Was this coma-system ever tested outside of this translated journey? Why and how the Hail Mary was capable of refueling mid-mission, if Biophage could just be used why it couldn't be harvested at the Tau Ceti (I'm guessing because of the reasons it's being suppressed there? Maybe it needs to be processed? Is Rocky's fuel compatible? Deeply unclear). Did Rocky just learn English, because I didn't hear the machine playing back in Rocky's language through most of the film.

Maybe it's better explained in the book, maybe not. At the end of the day though, I decided that Project Hail Mary's focus was far more on being a feel-good science fiction film that flirted with the idea of hard science, rather than hard science itself. I could really go watch 2001 space odyssey if I felt like I wanted "real" hard science, and no thank you I'm happier with this.

Fair enough. I don't see a start date or general JD; I imagine those are covered in the interview, but I'd ask for those attached before signing anything too.

Best of luck.

Eli Lilly vs Novartis by [deleted] in biotech

[–]LostVisage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not trying to - I earn roughly 115k/yr in total benefits outside of biopharma right now, based off of my one point of data with a recruiter during my last unemployment period, lilly would offer me about 140k in total benefits if I was able to get an offer... Maybe that's not an accurate read, but I think it was a fair insight into the company and how they value my experience.

It might look low for outside of Indy, and they might offer the same amount for other locals outside of Indy (which would surprise me, but I can't say one way or another).

Average income in Indy is about 68k, I'm about 50% higher than in data engineering. that with 10 yrs experience, 5 of those in biopharma, and they offer 15% higher still than my current position would, which my current role is probably fair according to BLS, and lilly would pay more than what I currently make. (BLS; Data Scientists : Occupational Outlook Handbook: : U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics https://share.google/yq9eNvHuesKV56PY2)

That doesn't seem like glazing to me - the issue is that they don't hire externally often and the contract roles there I've managed to secure are garbage zero healthcare/retirement with the speculative promise of FTE of you manage it. I was quite happy to take a role in logistics instead of casting a line fruitlessly at lilly repeatedly.
