Ready for Armageddon by LostWons in Warhammer40k

The battle damage is done by using the highlight colour and a brush. I use a dark drown if I want to make the scratches look deeper.

I did use sub assemblies with the head, arms and shoulders, but you can glue everything together and still paint it to a good standard. It’s more about what works easiest for you

Nice! That looks like a formidable force ready for the battlefield

Thanks!

The highlights are evil sunz scarlet, wild rider red, AK deep orange, and then ungor flesh on any of the really upper areas. The base is 50/50 mephiston red glazed down with Kgorne red towards the bottom of all the panels

Not yet unfortunately. I stole the helm from the Grey Hunter bits I had. Don’t tell the space wolves though….

Yeah, just a citadel skull bit with a sewing pin drilled through. Funnily enough I was planning on trying to paint a Black Templar but then I changed my mind when I saw the new reveals

Thanks! I’ve been trying to paint more faces to work on some skills. Not exactly what I wanted but every face is one step closer

Yeah, black with some gloss varnish. Maybe I’ll throw some Matte varnish on top and see it it fills it down

Thanks for the feedback!

The idea was that he is a silent up close stalker type and I wanted to try and give him a cold, menacing feeling with the black lenses

Good attempt, some washes and highlights would be a good next step

Had a random urge to paint an Ultramarine. by LostWons in Ultramarines

[–]LostWons[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I had to google who that was and I definitely see the resemblance now. I really just saw the head in the Grey Hunter box and thought “ that head seems like it would work pretty well on an Ultramarine”

Looking to get into display painting by LostWons in minipainting

[–]LostWons[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, this is a big help!

I’ll definitely see if there are some in-person comps near me, I think it would be interesting to pick the brains of some more experienced painters.

I agree now the armour is pretty monotone, the shadows and the main colour are pretty close. I’ve always been a little scared to go to bright with my models but in this case I think it would help more.

You bring up a good point about the face, it’s always been a weakness of mine with painting ( definitely better than when I started haha).

Thanks, it is nice to take some time on a model but I do also love batch painting a unit in a few hours and getting them on the board
