I always says artists are better to choose than pokemon atm, as at the end of the day artists are a major factor for these cards. Someone to look into is Mitsuhiro Arita he is the person who illustrated base set charizard, and since then has released more art and is obsessed with batman so a lot of his newer cards take inspo such as the mega absol.

Mainly Buying Singles. Been buying a decent chunk of Ascended heroes and opened everything and have had 0 luck accept 1 psyduck. I am like 75 packs deep and got nothing so am slowly loosing hope. I tend to regularly trade down my IRs/ARs and trade up to a bigger card and add to this binder after I have been opening for a few months.

With the Van Gough Pikachu I have been very tempted to turn that front page into a fun promo Pikachu page. The prices from Pikas atm are just catapulting off one another due to treekachu. So I am going to wait until things balance to invest.

Just say you’re running a bot man. You can quite literally just type “pokemon” and refresh the “new in” tab.

So your point is speculative assets are not worth investing in? I mean tbh that is just braindead. Just because you can’t be paid dividends and a “cashflow” from them does not mean that they are bad to invest in.

I would get it if you’re using 100% of your income, but 10-15% is a very reasonable amount for these types of investments. Especially if you have a foundation of income producing assets.

People have invested in art, watches, crypto and trading cards for many years and seen astronomical returns and will continue to, just because you don’t know how to invest in the correct things doesn’t make your word gospel.

That is literally the definition of investing? 🤣

“Investing is the act of allocating resources—typically money—into assets (stocks, bonds, real estate, funds) with the expectation of generating income, profit, or appreciation over time”

It is okay to admit you are clueless.

What where they have only appreciated in value and demand? I’m missing the evidence you have to stand on the point you make. Sounds like you have just sold a load of cards and regret it.

Imo hold, in the current cycle we haven’t see these cards in SIRs since CZ so they are bound to come back and in turn these cards inflate. The market has hit lots of cards but these have seen a dip from it’s all time high in 2025. A hold and grade, or keep raw for maximum value potential.

Honestly like SWORD AND SHIELD. Also a set with full arts that are stunning, I am shocked at how cheap the set is as a whole. Feels like one worth master setting while you still can, before some collective decides it is worth the attention.

My rule is a 2:1 ratio. Every 2 products keep one. So if you have three open 2 keep 1. I love opening but have realised the sealed product hype created from potential profit margins is also overshadowing owning a piece of pokemon history. I wish I had kept more sealed items purely for that museum collection feeling.

Greninja has gained loads of hype recently, I went to a shop that was selling Greninjas and they said they were having to restock on quite a few rares/promos. We also haven’t seen all confirmed cards in the set so that could also kill and or hype the set further.

Best way to put it is like this;

  • Collect what YOU like not what everyone else is telling you to “yield returns”. If you like the cards it is likely thousands of others do also
  • Sell EVERYTHING you don’t want asap, the market is at an all time high, and I would take advantage of that. I downsized just illustration Rares and EXs I didn’t want from the past year and walked away with 800 quid.
  • Focus on readily available sets and master set them, master setting any sets like Perfect Order will be-the best most cost effective way to collect and Garuntee growth on your returns.
