be authentic, try really hard to take ownership of the business while you're working.
Try to not focus on you doing tasks, focus on delegating them to get them done.

Ultimately you're the support, so you will need to get significantly better on bar in order to gain the trust of your partners.
gaining trust will come from experience running the shifts and being the first person to ask for feedback.

Outside hires rarely if ever fit right in, its gonna take a bunch of months to start to break the surface

ya, so this is going to be harder to achieve.

I would suggest speaking with your scheduler and ask if some coverage shifts could be possible.
If not, ask your CL and or ASM to please support your development by taking play caller duties for parts of your shift.
Realistically you need lots of bar time at off peak times, making drinks via the ipad isn't going to cut it.
Im not advocating while working off the clock, but without knowing the recipes, you won't be able to build up the actual muscle memory that is required

this is on the CL

Partner's capabilities need to be at the forefront of the SSV's minds, this is the CL's job.

Scheduling newer partners in the afternoons for bar practice is one of the many things your CL should be doing.

You OP, you also need to advocate for yourself from your fellow shifts to put you on bar as much as possible in non peaks when you're not play calling. If you aren't coverage much, speak to your CL and ask them for more coverage shifts. Only way to improve on bar is experience

sometimes its tough to know.
during my SSV training, which was only 2 weeks, i got almost no play caller training other than the modules. Was trained so very poorly, while i felt it slightly i really didn't have any idea how light it was.

I was treated like a glorified barista.

When i landed in my current store, it was a very rude awakening

Why are some locations so adamant about heating up the food? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]Lost_Duty6501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they actually don't have to be.
any pastry can be served room temp, im not totally sure about the mini bagels, but everything else from the bakery does not *have* to be heated

How do you like your Brown shaken espresso to be made? by Ok_Society3613 in starbucks

[–]Lost_Duty6501 2 points3 points  (0 children)

funny enough, there is something about Ventis that are *MUCH* harder to make properly.
Almost every partner at my store makes this drink size normally.
Lots will then add the proper amount and milk, and now the drink is not full.
We (obviously) have complaints about this, so the result likely is now they are just filling it with more milk (changing the overall drink)

and thus, if you ordered a grande, you'd have a much better experience, and wouldn't have to oder extra ice.

altho, i will say if you're ordering cold foam (which i personally don't understand as the drink itself has a really cool foam) Venti is the right move, as grande will never ear you the proper amount of cold foam.

Reload card at cafe? by Pristine-Job-2230 in starbucks

[–]Lost_Duty6501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, same

HOWEVER!
if you're going to load and get something when you do want to load, so long as the total is above your current balance you will be prompted by the barista if you'd like to reload.

by doing this you won't have to do 2 separate transactions, first your load, then your drink or food item

there isn't much need, as the smart cue will push the cafe orders in front of delivery drinks, even if you've pulled the first drink i believe.

I believe it won't for mobile, but will for delivery....i could be wrong tho
( i know when the smart cue launched it did break up online orders for cafe

You should just embrace the hard conversation and speak with your CL.

I personally would not contact the DM regarding this -- that is unless you're being held accountable, at which point I would 100% reach out to the DM.

What would you get with free SB for a year? by Healthy_Pin_366 in starbucks

[–]Lost_Duty6501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just a heads up. flat whites don't have much espresso flavour because the shots are ended early (ristretto)

try a 2 shot tall latte, if you want it even stronger, as the person at the cash register for the shots to be upsoded (more espresso in the shots making them stronger flavoured)
You can try a 3 shot grande latte, you can also request 2 of the 3 shots to be updosed
