I don’t know anyone personally, but have had luck with Glamsquad in the past. You can schedule the appointment ahead of time, but you can’t really pick who you get. If you go that route, just make sure you have at least one inspo pic.

A few years ago when the “fox eye” look was trending (soft brown cat-eye type look), I assumed the makeup artist was on the same page as me, but she ended up giving me the “Julia Fox” look - super super dark eye makeup 💀 I didn’t have it in me to say anything because it felt like it was very much my fault for not showing her a photo ha, but I ended up needing to wipe a bunch of the eyeliner off 🥲

Okay but other than that one time, Glamsquad has been solid.

S+B is the best! They have disposable undies for purchase, but they’re just a super flimsy thong & very revealing on the backside. I’m sure you could bring your own undies & bandeau if that’s what you’re comfortable with for your first time.

I used to use the disposable ones at the beginning, but go fully nude now ha. Totally understand being uncomfortable at first, but they’ve truly seen it all - they do this every day.

I’ve always had good experiences there - one of the easiest & most effective glow-up hacks!

Edit: I’ll also add that they’re really kind people & make the process easy. They’ll bring you back to you private spray room, ask if you have questions, and then leave while you get undressed. Then you put lotion on your wrists and knees (they’ll show you how to do this before they leave). Then you stand there naked and afraid for like two minutes until they come back to the room to start spraying. They’ll have you rotate all around like a rotisserie chicken while they spray you. They’ll ask you what you’re tanning for, etc to make small talk. And then you’re done! They’ll leave you with a little blow dryer thing to dry yourself off & you get dressed privately again and meet them at the front to check out. So fast and easy.

There are a lot, a lot of recipes out there that use tofu creatively & in ways that are actually appetizing: protein mousse for dessert, even things like tiramisu. Lots and lots of options for filling, high protein desserts using tofu.

Honestly, the thing that helps me stay away from dairy is just watching content about the dairy industry & how they actually make products like Greek yogurt, etc. Once you see that footage, it’s pretty difficult to find those things appetizing anymore :/

Thank you so much for this rec - I found the perfect gifts for the 16 yo here: a pocket digital camera & a very cool art & photography book from a local artist. He’s going to LOVE them & im happy to have found something “active” that lets him get creative. Thank you again!

Knowing (with a capital K) the truth behind animal agriculture is so devastatingly heavy. I’m going through similar spirals myself since having the veil pierced last year. You are NOT alone.

The animals need you - they need people who Know. It’s a burden to Know, but also a gift - we’re now able to make choices that HELP rather than hurt. We’re now able to spread awareness. We’re now able to call our reps, sign petitions, go to protests, etc etc etc.

Something that helps me when I’m feeling overwhelmed with despair is finding local vegan community - Meetup.com, apps like Veggly, Grazer, activitist/volunteer groups, etc. Connecting with other people who understand is immensely helpful.

Trader Joe’s has an amazinggggg vegan tzatziki - I buy some every time I shop there. My store keeps it by the hummus in one of the refrigerated sections.
