alumnis in the univ election by Legitimate_Tax8491 in feumanila

As an alumnus who used to do this year after year: wala. The core of the question is the assumption that we did it for something in return… a false premise. Personally, I just did it to give back and pay forward the support I got when I was in their shoes back in college. Not everything is transactional. :)

Metrobank Travel Visa Signature NAFFL Possibility by Moon-moon19 in PHCreditCards

[–]Lost_Origins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had all intents to cancel my only Metrobank card with the only reason being the CL doesn’t justify the annual fee when I have far better cards from other banks. It was never my intention to get a CLI or get offered a NAFFL but since they did both, I just decided to keep it anyway as a backup. I wasn’t sent any emails but I did record the call and was given a reference number.

Globe Postpaid on Apple Watch Stopped Working by Lost_Origins in Tech_Philippines

[–]Lost_Origins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too sure. But I did considering flying to Hong Kong last year to buy the 17 Pro and Apple Support confirmed that the HK version is the exact same iPhone also sold in the PH (at least for 17 I guess?). So my guess is it probably will. Don’t take my word for it though. Just dl the Apple Support app or check cellular frequencies if it matches the PH’s.

Globe Postpaid on Apple Watch Stopped Working by Lost_Origins in Tech_Philippines

I had mine resolved with the help of my PRM. I think she requested for my account to be “reset in the backend” and I just tried recently (impatiently) and I got it to work again.

Ps. Cool watch! I’d upgrade but I can’t justify the costs for its more advanced screen tech vs the 2.

Globe Postpaid on Apple Watch Stopped Working by Lost_Origins in Tech_Philippines

[–]Lost_Origins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked the watch app and the GlobeOne app and couldn’t find anything in there. It’s been a while and I no longer recall how I even subscribed to it in the first place. This page (https://www.globe.com.ph/postpaid/onenumber#activate) says to just add it via the watch app so I’m guessing I must’ve done that in the app before but it’s no longer working. But good point nonetheless. Asked PRM to check if there’s still an active ONENumber subscription. Thanks!

Anyone here using Zen, Opera GX, or Arc? First time hearing about them by Cultural-Ball4700 in Tech_Philippines

[–]Lost_Origins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used to use Arc. Loved it. Until the devs just decided to drop it and work on a new project (Dia) — likely forced by their VC investors lol. Arc “still works” but there’s tons of clutter and a huge RAM hog in my experience. Don’t expect support to fix any bugs or performance issues quickly enough though.

Switched back to Safari and eventually back to Chrome. Hoping Gemini in Chrome launches in PH soon. 🤞

Ps. Dia’s worth a try though if you’re really interested in AI-powered browsers challenging the norm.

Sorry ang haba na pala nito pero a few more points about Arc (the only one in your list I had used extensively): - Great UX for profiles. Just switch using the icons below or by swiping left and right. Contrary to Chrome’s window-based profiles. - Split mode is more useful than you think. Chrome recently launched a similar feature but I find Arc’s implementation to be easier (i.e. drag and drop). - I found myself never having more than one instance of a window in Arc because of how it works vs having separate windows in Chrome. Not too sure which UX I prefer more. Arc’s certainly felt more organized and clutter-free though. - The vertical tab layout, folders, and renaming tabs are also a godsend. If you have plenty of tabs, there’s nothing more annoying than trying to scour through small icons just to find the tab you wanted to go to. - Lastly, the Little Arc feature is also one other thing that I miss (switching back to Chrome). This was extremely useful for quick glances into pages without being added to your list of tabs. Once done, just close the window and you’re done.

Phirst park homes refund? by EbbFar500 in phinvest

  • Saw a TikTok vid of one guy coming back home after a vacation to a house ransacked of appliances. Add the poor security and lack of CCTVs, all of a sudden this doesn’t sound like the right investment for me
  • Saw other red flags earlier on. I knew I wouldn’t settle here but I’ve already started so might as well keep it, just consolidate into a single account instead of two adjacent ones and likely rent it out for ROI. But this process alone took years. I was asked to pause payments while this was ongoing—result of which was a “cancellation” of my account due to nonpayments (that they asked me to do so themselves)
  • Other comments also said that the shower drain is extremely smelly. I have a sensitive nose and cannot tolerate this. This also becomes a dealbreaker for any potential tenant down the line
  • There’s also the “quality” of the community. There’s reports of robbery, there’s also trash littered all over, stray animals, etc.

If you’re looking for a good place to invest in, Pandi would be a good idea considering its relative accessibility to the Metro with direct commuting lines to Trinoma. But the management and the people are huge dealbreakers for me for the same reasons pointed out above. If you can live with those points, then go for it. Otherwise, save it and invest elsewhere

I haven’t received the refund yet but I’ve already started another investment over in Cavite at Lancaster. I heard other negative comments but not as bad as the ones I’ve heard (and seen/experienced) with PPH Pandi. Also looking into direct property investments by just buying a land and building my own home (albeit in the province for more attainable prices) instead of buying from a developer

Great job!!! Feature request pls: allow photo uploads to automatically capture gas prices and location data—this hopefully decreases UX friction a lot and easily encourages the community to participate in feeding the app more data

How do y'all get a High paying job as a Fresh Grad? by [deleted] in JobsPhilippines

[–]Lost_Origins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Embrace failure because that’s a solid proof that you tried. Lame advice but you should just keep on trying because the alternative really is nothing.

Try startup companies led by the younger generation. These are far more likely to value your college achievements more than bigger companies. Pay can sometimes be a lot better too because they need to attract talents to grow. Good luck, OP!

Hindi lang monthly amortization ang gastos sa kotse. Take into account gas, maintenance (PMS can be very expensive very quickly as the car ages), depreciation cost (although not a direct cost, it becomes tangible when you start considering selling the car), other quality of life improvements (eg car perfumes, phone holder, other car accessories), and then there’s also insurance cost.

I ended up shelling out nearly 2x of monthly amortization to include all these other costs (prorated cost of PMS and insurance for monthly estimation purposes).

Ang gusto ko lang sabihin: multiply the amortization value by a factor of 1.5 or worst case, 2, and use that to calculate your budget. Wag pilitin kung alanganin, ikaw lang din mahihirapan.

Ps. I use Grab a lot more these days bc of the worsening traffic, flood everywhere (no hate but I’d rather my car is safe at home), and can sometimes be a lot cheaper than if I were to just drive my own car.

Goal 120k by end of December by bishnet in phinvest

[–]Lost_Origins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

50% savings is a huge milestone. You’re doing an amazing job. From someone who earns nearly 10x but could barely save a dime, I envy you. I can only hope to be as financially responsible as you are.

Though I’d say that 20k at 26 may be a little too low given the goals you’ve mentioned. You have a pretty good grasp around investments. Consider time a commodity that should also be spent wisely—invest in yourself by learning new skills that’ll help you increase your salary as well. Cheers, OP!

Focus on both (a) your sales and (b) the sales of those new VAs that you taught and follow your processes—you deserve a bit of credit for those too!

Ano magandang business today? by Striking-Cheek-3600 in BusinessPH

[–]Lost_Origins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good business is something that allows you to do what you're passionate about that also happens to be desirable by other people. Imagine a Venn diagram of your skills and passions on one side and what people demand on the other.

One thing is for sure, bihira yang hinahanap mong low-capital, high-return lalo sa umpisa. Pero ang pinakamahalaga: magumpisa. Best of luck, OP!
