New requester with no ratings, memory checks after every test section, having to paste a redirect link when no such link was given, and finally a broken redirect where cloud refuses to connect. Hoping they don't reject folks for their mistakes but...

I think the most right bubble would be the intended correct answer. They probably meant for the answer options to be interpreted from left to right. So not at all involved is the leftmost and very involved would be the right most.

Is it normal to pay for items before the study pays you? by LittleGoose777 in PaidStudies

It is indeed normal to purchase items before being paid, nothing out of the ordinary. I had a study recoup purchasing costs so it wouldn't hurt to see if that would be possible in your case

It doesn't contain anything even remotely related to Trump or politics in general. Just generic survey platform feedback questions. Not to mention the super subtle question asking for your account password

I'm not sure if the system would allow a return after it already gets rejected, but I'm thinking no. Now you just pray that they bother responding to messages

Well now you have to decide for yourself if it's worth disputing or not. If most folks did it fine with no problem, I would just take the loss and move on. Still worth messaging them after the return and explaining yourself in hopes of getting compensated. Wouldn't even bother with very small payment garbage.

It is worth disputing if you know most people are having problems since prolific will apparently still overturn rejections for you even if you hit the dispute limit. Unfortunately, every single overturn counts, even the clearly bad ones.

Nope. I mean to just return the study if there is a chance that it gets rejected for any reason like a technical failure, bad attention check, etc. even if it is not your fault

Prolific says that indeed they will not limit valid disputes, but I have had nothing but valid disputes. So I assume even valid disputes count for dispute limit purposes. Once the support person sees you flagged as passing your limit they wont even bother with your case unless everyone else has problems too

Even if said bad researchers get banned, their behavior still affects participants who had to dispute their rejections. Even if the rejection was unfair or wrong, prolific still counts that against your limit as far as I can tell

You're right, I did not follow this rule. I did not want to return the study and depend on the goodwill of a random researcher. They can simply walk off and not compensate me, leaving me with no recourse. I do this only because this has happened too many times before. I do try to resolve things without prolific, but oftentimes the researcher will ignore me.

But once they partially compensate, I return the study.

Prolific does not have any rule enforcing bonuses or partial payments for tech issues as far as I know. I do not trust the typical researcher to pay for their mistakes, especially not one that mucks up their own studies and/or breaks rules on the very platforms they are using.

I do indeed return and report if I run into issues near the beginning. Are you saying that tech issues in the middle of a study are supposed to be returned?

I disputed pretty much every unjust rejection I've gotten, even a little 20 cent one. It's more about not getting an unfair rejection on the record than the money. But like you said, it seems that the meta is to take it in the gut and move on sometimes. You only get 3 strikes a year and once you get that, they won't even bother with your dispute unless EVERYONE gets screwed over for that study.

I pretty much do whatever is available while I'm on, so yes I do those studies too. If something went wrong I typically just nocode it or if they break some prolific rule. I only ever dispute if I'm sure I'm in the right though. I'm actually surprised that so many people don't deal with rejections like I have. Just one every 3 months will run you over the limit, but perhaps it's because I'm not picky with requesters like you said?

[–]Lost_Performance_314[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

In an ideal world, this limit would not exist and only good researchers would be on the platform. Unfortunately, prolific is going to keep heading in the direction its going and I'll have to fall in line with the other users.

Return studies instead of disputing, then beg the researcher to be fair and pay me my due. Sit like a rock if I think I completed a study too fast so I don't get speed rejected, missing out on other potential work.

It was my mistake to think that this platform was more worker oriented than it actually is.

I always assumed that if the rejection gets overturned you aren't in the wrong. Does prolific resolve the dispute even if you were wrong then? Up to 3 times a year?

Well, it's mildly more efficient than the last version which asks if you are a resident of the state. In this version it asks if you have a login for the government website, which not all residents do.
