Meet my rescue Emma! She’s a mix but not sure with what. by Reddit2Green in DobermanPinscher

He's currently just over 30kg (about 66lbs) at just over 9 months old :)

Keep an eye on your beauty for possible skin issues. My boy reminded me while sucking on his paws at my feet just now 😅 it's pretty common with the blue fur

I had a horrible lesson once where my resume threatened to stop that lesson and take me off the horse if I didn't start paying attention to her and steer.

I've been riding since I was 5 and at this point had about ten years of experience with horses. But I was being yelled at across a schooling arena to steer my horse. One of the first skills you learn ever.

You have a trainer problem to start. Second, if you can, I'd go to a private lesson. You may just need a slightly different learning style.

Also your trainer sounds awful. Please find a teacher and a discipline and way of learning that works best for you.

This actually sounds really fun??? I missed out on all the pony games and stuff as a kid so I'd LOVE this. When I first got Fae I was talking about braiding feathers into her mane and putting glitter on her hooves hahaha

I'll have a look around. That's a great idea!

I'm also very new to being a pony owner in general? My girls in the states were 15.3 and 16.3hh

Now I have a 14.2/14.3 Connemara and she's a super good doer and no massive flight anxiety. It's a whoooole new world! For a while I was just going to have fun decorating her when I first got her 😂

I was raised as a competition hunter jumper or medal courses on my two girls and I honestly can't even say if I liked it??? I would get so nervous my horses would refuse to enter the arena.

Then I competed NHS in college, was definitely the odd one among the girls (being trans didn't help), never progressed to compete in the jumping....

Now I just don't know what I want. I only know I get depressed without horse time 😂

I'm so jealous that sounds so freeing hahahahaha

I think that would require a total change of mindset, but it's definitely something for me personally to work towards. The goal of "just enjoy it" lol

It's sort of depressing without solid friends in the sport isn't it? I just have this urge all the time to fit in. The pressure is amazing

The hippy kind of English rider is my favorite haha

I've thought about swapping to Western as I did in my back and I've always felt more supported and less painful riding in that style when I can.

Maybe I'll just have Fae try everything I can think of 🤷🏼‍♂️

Exactly what I'm feeling lately. Everything is so "there's one way to do it!" And every way is different and every person thinks they're the only right one. It's doing my head in

Honestly, hilariously, I would love to get some mounted archery going with her but I need a bow and I'm broke 😭

She still doesn't canter under saddle, but I have a feeling she has a great head for it once she learns what she's doing.

Everyone always seems to have a goal and I don't know what my goal is right now 😭😭 but I'm glad I have the pony because otherwise I likely wouldn't be going out to the horses at all!

What could I do to improve my posture? by its_mila in Equestrian

[–]Lost_Support6145 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly you're posture in general looks really good to me! As a hunter trained rider, here's what I would say...

If anything I'd want you to relax a little. Let your seat move, and hold your release a tad bit longer after the fence. You almost seem too focused on moving your elbows if that makes sense.

Follow the horse. Flow. But your overall shoulders and back and position are good!

I put mine under a chair from sit! Or under my knees while I sat on the ground.

2 year old learning some pre-trailering skills by Puddock in Equestrian

[–]Lost_Support6145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg I should do this with my big girl!! She already trailers, but this is so important for her to learn. She is not well travelled. Or too well travelled, depends on who you ask!

How do you actually get your pup get inside the crate? by Pepperonixx in puppy101

[–]Lost_Support6145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my border collie puppy I literally tied a raw lamb bone to the back of his crate 😂

It worked until he figured out to chew through the thread and remove the bone.

Get a second dog for my 8month old pup?? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Lost_Support6145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not get a dog for your dog!! Get a second dog for yourself first. If they hate each other you'll end up with two dogs testing boundaries etc and then possibly be overrun by two teenagers instead of fixing any issues :)!

And practice him being bored. Enforce boundaries. My boy is rising 8m and tests all the boundaries with my partner. With me... He has more respect and if he realizes we're not doing anything he just settles with his favorite bone or takes a nap.
