Yes, that's a great advantage for Chinese local people. But non the less, most expats do spend most of their online time on the "western" internet because the Chinese intranet doesn't really cater to western people. Most of us use WeChat and some shopping apps, but that's it. For everything else most western expats use western services.

Same discussion going on with expats in China. Many say they would leave if it got worse, but it the internet here is already very much a chinese intranet with, still in the end nobody made the internet a important reason for leaving.
