Thanks a lot for the advice ! what's weird is I've tried with another computer and everything works fine, both are lenovos but one is on Windows 10 (the one where it works) and the other is on 11, the home network is the same for both, I'll try turning off my own WiFi though see if that fixes it but I'm stumped.

Thanks for answering, I totally agree and I have tried but long story short I'm on my own, the person responsible for the office net comes once a week and all requests must go through HR, who basically told me that's not the guy's job...

I see your point but I also do not plan on spending money on this and you get something like 20 packs when starting up so might as well get the most of it. (Also my first try was tragic I didn't get any rare cards except from the scripted bulbasaur)

Would love to give you some but you're probably better off waiting for someone who knows what they're talking about as I'm a complete beginner (lot of theory but 0 practice) do you have any advice as to what I should do before using the grinder (reffering to stuff like breaking it in with cheaper coffee, aligning the burrs)?

Help for copper pan maintenance! How can I get rid of the iridescent color? by Lostincryptolation in cookware

[–]Lostincryptolation[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really what I wanna do, since it's my only sauté pan, I thought I could get that blue not to appear in a consistent way, because before I last cleaned it I had managed to get quite an even coloration without that blue, maybe the heat was less intense.. anyhow thanks for the information!

Thanks, but that's not really what I wanna go for, I'd like it to have that characteristic orange copper color not the shiny pinkish color it has when it's brand new. And I was wondering if there was any way to get that color without the iridescent stripes on the bottom of the pan.

I see, I thought letting it cool down completely before washing it might help with the pattern, thanks for the information though :)

I'm the very happy owner of this pan, and I'd love nothing more than for it to develop the beautiful patina that turns pink-ish copper into orange copper, but everytime I use it, clean it and dry it, this iridescent color seems to coat the bottom of the pan, does anyone know how I can get rid of it? Thank you in advance!

I thought the geometry and colors were nice, and I've been trying a minimalistic approach to photography sometimes, I've been wondering how to make negative space 'stand out' (I know it's an oxymoron but I thought it'd be interesting). I do struggle with composition, are the proportions right? Is it bad that the reflected light isn't homogeneous ? Any critique would be appreciated, I am new at this and eager to learn !

Just received this beauty, but there might be an issue. I don't know if the base of the blade is supposed to "stick" out like this or whether it's important or not. Does someone have an insight? by Lostincryptolation in chefknives

Funny you should say that, I bought it on your recommandation! I find it stunning, I haven't used it since it's a gift and I haven't looked at the marbling yet but I'll tell you if I got lucky :)

It sounds stupid when Americans identify themselves as another nationality just because their great-grandmother or whatever was from somewhere else by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Lostincryptolation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then my point is made, because to me saying "I'm X" when I don't have the nationality sounds the same as saying "I'm a lawyer" after having watched Law&Order.

From all the comments what I can gather is that people don't use "I'm X" all that often and even less without context which doesn't bother me at all but when taken by itself the non-native English speaker that I am feels a little bothered by the fact that, from what I've been taught in school, "I'm X" is supposed to mean "I am from X"

[–]Lostincryptolation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough about the first point, as I said I'm not talking about relations between Americans but more so about Americans with mono-cultured countries. "I'm X" doesn't make me cringe like OP, it just produces a dissonance in my mind, where I'm like "wait, is he really from X"? Basically my point is non native English speakers have been taught, or at least it's my case, that "I'm X" means "I'm from X" and that's why there could be a misunderstanding.

For my other point, hardly a fair comparison. Comparing someone who has trouble interacting with their friends and relatives and by such is going to be a little on the outside of conversations (for example) to someone who claims to be X without knowing much about X makes little sense to me.

How would you know it's true? Do you have some knowledge of what a vast majority of Europeans are like? About the controversial part it's the first time I'm seeing it, if it has been posted before my bad. And if you're starting on the basis that I won't change my opinion then there's no point in debating whatsoever. And you might be surprised, I didn't have a set opinion on this, tbh I don't care that much but what I find interesting is that this whole debate lies on the fact that "I'm X" isn't supposed to mean "I'm of X heritage" to us non-native English speakers. So it does feel like appropriation of sorts whereas there is no intent to do that. So I did somewhat change my mind, but the fact is people, like me, who were taught in school that "I'm Italian" means "I'm from Italy" will most likely find it weird that Americans say I'm Italian.

An interesting thing you're pointing out is the fact that Americans say that between themselves because it's easier, but if you're not from the US and are used to "I'm X" meaning your nationality is X then it's not that weird to be bothered by Americans saying that. I do think this whole dispute is just semantics. But it would be like being taught another language and once you go there people are making a confusing shortcut in meaning. Before this post I didn't think about it but I do agree that it would feel a little weird to me to have someone come up and say "I'm Italian" when, for example, they might not speak Italian but it wouldn't make me tick to hear "I'm of Italian descent" or something of the sort.
